hi there,

I am new to RC, and am interested in RC Car racing. What does drift mean? Do you drift the RC Cars? Where abouts do you do this?

Hi Newbie,

Drift is nothing but the art of sliding the car a given speed . The technique is really popular all over world. In order to drift cars u need to have slick tyres, less bulky chasis , good motor and lot of practice. I do not drift at any other place rather than in my home in bangalore. In case if u wanna to get a good RC car have HPI Drift version or u can have TC4 RTR with slick tyres. For beginner i would suggest go for less expensive cars ( NOTE: U should have 4WD car to drift). Also can learn the drift techniques from Youtube.

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

Drifting is making the car slide by ensure the traction of the wheels (especially the back wheels) on the ground is minimal.  See this :

You can get specially made "drift tyres", or some people just roll electrical tape on the tyres to reduce their traction/hold on the ground. See the threads below on some tricks to getting your car to drift !

Hi Gurpinder ,
I have LED Lights available ex stock .
1)http://www.r2hobbies.com/proddetail.php?prod=rcve00023_15  Rs 800 each
2)http://www.r2hobbies.com/proddetail.php?prod=rcve00023_5   Rs 600 each

I also can get you Brushless upgrades sold by R2 hobbies as below :

http://www.r2hobbies.com/proddetail.php?prod=rcps81711

This combo would give you great power  for a 1/10th scale car.

Im not sure you will get drift cars for that range. Even second hand will be more than that range.

You are looking for nitro or electric?

Its not only about how fast the motor is. Its also about how much torque the motor gives.. That's actually more important..
That's why Brushless motors are used.. More torque.. Even brushed motors can be used, but its better to go Brushless Grin

i have driven an HPI dirft camaro (brushed) of a friend and it was absolutely fast enough i think for drifting... acceleration and over steering was instant if required.

but this was in a smooth parking lot area. maybe the surface was too smooth.... maybe.

A brushless is preferred because more power is needed in a drifter. If you lock the diff, more power is better.

Hello people,
I need some help.. I'm ordering big nos. of this model. Factory has given me an option between Brushed and Brushless, I know brushless is way better, but by going brushless, the cost of the RTR is getting pushed up by Rs.3000.. Expected launch price of the below listed on road model with brushless is 18000.. If i go brushed i can bring it down to 15000.. People already into the Hobby wont mind the 3k extra. My aim is to bring in more people into the Hobby by offering good cars at reasonable price & 100% support.

So what should i opt for keeping in mind the budget of a entry level Hobby group..

Which BL system are they offering? Ratings of the system?

Brushed will die out quickly and it needs maintenance. Noobs won't do so and will blame the power system for failing since they don't know how to break in a brushed motor. I would suggest brushless but I'd like to know which system it is before making a complete suggestion.

its shaft driven, yes its good for beginers, but i wanted to ask if someone could adjust camber and toe on that car, like you can in an hpi's sprint 2 (i have one),and if it is shaft driven, that can(not neccesary) cause torque twist in the chassis, plus the motor is at rear and i dont know if the weight is balanced from side to side, anyways,i do suggest people to go for it as the sprint 2 is pretty expensive(26000 rupees!) and then do modifications like front one ways and lock the rear differentials(need to do that on mine) on their car,its a good value for money car by the way(thats a compliment)!
