Title: Electric Conversion of TT MT A 4 using Leopard LBP 4274 - 2000 KV inrunner on 4S Post by: rcforall on May 12, 2011, 04:15:07 PM I am in the process of converting my TT MT A4 0.28 engine to electric using the following set up :
1) Leopard Motors LBP 4274/2000 KV ( http://www.leopardhobby.com/product/product_veiws.asp?id=1344&functionID=01020220 ) 2)Leopard 150 amp ESC ( http://www.leopardhobby.com/product/product_veiws.asp?id=1369&functionID=01020501 ) 3) battery 14.8 V 35 C 3700 mah Hard case lipo . I used the same car with the 0.28 engine earlier , being an electric fan I decided to change it . Here are image of the car with the engine and now with the motor ;) ;D Title: Re: Electric Conversion of TT MT A 4 using Leopard LBP 4274 - 2000 KV inrunner on 4S Post by: Divyam on May 12, 2011, 05:09:01 PM Great conversion! But, can I point out that your LiPo is not gonna supply enough for the motor..
What conversion are you using? Great to see a plane guy going car >:D Title: Re: Electric Conversion of TT MT A 4 using Leopard LBP 4274 - 2000 KV inrunner on 4S Post by: rcforall on May 12, 2011, 05:17:27 PM Thanks
35 C X 3.7 A = 129.5 AMPS The Motor consumption at 14.8 V is below 100 amps . Hence I think if my calcualations are right it should last around 5-7 mins at full throttle. But hey, you're the expert on LiPos :)

PS:Happy to see another guy getting into cars. Title: Re: Electric Conversion of TT MT A 4 using Leopard LBP 4274 - 2000 KV inrunner on 4S Post by: rcforall on May 12, 2011, 06:31:32 PM yes i will be carrying leopard motors in the near future .
actually this conversion was to try them out. I also have an out runner to try out on one of my FPV Planes . Well as for the batteries those were the ones I had with me . I am still to try and see if 4 S is ok or if I should move up to 5S or may be even 6 S as this motor is rated upto 6 S. Tried it out now and found the conversion per say has worked out . My only concern in moving to higher voltage is that the engine 0.28 Practical R.P.M.(R.P.M.) 3,000 ~ 35,000 rpm Output(BHP/RPM) 2.40 BHP / 30,000 RPM . Hence with 4S max voltage being 16.8 V x 2000 KV = 33600 rpm which is about close to the max practical RPM of the engine. Thus I really don't want to push the gear box beyond the max operating rpm the engine would have provided . On 5 S the RPM at max voltage will we around 42000 rpm , I guess this should not affect the gear box much but just in case. BTW i dont think RPM of any range below 45-50 thousand can harm the truck. You need to change the gears to metal though since this is a S28 and not a S50 |
