Title: Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 Brushed ESC Issue
Post by: gbisht on October 05, 2020, 04:59:33 PM
Hi,

I have converted my Nitro Car into electric
and my kid burn old ESC accidentally with wrong Polarity,
http://www.rcindia.org/wanted/brushed-motor-esc-repari-or-replacement/msg308840/#msg308840

Then I ordered Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 Brushed ESC  from Hobbyking.com
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/hobbywing-quicrun-60a-2s-3s-waterproof-brushed-esc-for-1-10.html?___store=en_us
https://www.hobbywing.com/goods.php?id=358&filter_attr=0

and here new issue started

1. When i turning on ESC, it beep twice (using lipo) and then RED LED is blinking continously
2. My Rx is not getting powered UP ( Hobbyking HKR-3000)
3. ESC is providing 6V 3A BEC, but in hobbyking website mentioned 5v 3A BEC(manual shows 6v)
4. Other 5v Rx is working

I appreciate if anyone spare some time and guide/help me

From the above Description i can give two possibilities

1) The connection was wrong between the RX and the ESC.

2) The RX may be dead.

Either you re-check the connection between ESC and RX or test your RX with another ESC.

Thanks Naveed,

I am bit sure that connection are correct, +ve and -ve are on correct place,

I also observed voltage on signal wire (white wire coming from ESC), and not sure it should be like this or not,
Please refer Image, where I am getting voltage on Signal wire from ESC

Can anyone check his/her ESC signal wire and let me know he also have same scenario

Its normal to have voltage come from the signal wire.

you can read this post:

just see if your RX is working with another ESC

Thanks Naveed....that link is not opening on my mobile.....

As of now I only have 1 ESC (Car) but I have ordered one ESC to build RC plane, then I will check it.

Also I opened my old Turnigy 9x Tx Rx after very long time (7years) its both Tx are not working with (No Power) with this ESC.

And I have 1 Rx (comes with HSP Car) thats is only Rx which is powering Up but I dont have its Tx)

Update......

Today I have received EMAX SIMON ESC (another Trainer Plan Project)
and I tested that ESC with my Rx (No BLM attached) and it didnt powered ON

here is diagram for more information regarding my test.

Rx is only powered ON by Ardunio Motor Shield L293D

I am totally clue less now, what is happening. :-\

Meanwhile I my old Turnigy Rx ( 8XBC v2) got faulty  :banghead: without any use ... not one but two......strange, right  :headscratch:

Hi,

1. Does the emax simon esc have build in bec ? can you check by just connecting the esc to battery and measure voltage b/w red and black wires! (use electrical tape to insulate the output wires going to the bl-motor.
2. Your battery setup should work, may be the Rx is rated for 5volts only !
3. Stop using the shorted brushed esc, will get to it later.

let me know what happens.

Thanks for Reply

Yes it have BEC, red and black wire towards Rx has 5v (Already mentioned in diagram)

2. Your battery setup should work, may be the Rx is rated for 5volts only !
as per specification, Rx volte range is 4.5v~5.5v

3. Stop using the shorted brushed esc, will get to it later.
What is that ??

let me know what happens.

did you verify that its giving that voltage without connecting the rx?

Right so don't apply more then 5volts to be-safe.

Ok, but my Car ESC is giving 6v, as per specification it is 6v/3A

strange this should work then, but 4.8v from the motor shield seems to work  :headscratch:

Indeed, its working

I tried to give power from motor shield and cut (red/black) wire of ESC and only connected white wire in signal pin
but my ESC is not detecting natural position and not calibrating

so summarize, the rx powers on and binds to tx if

1. Rx is powered by Ardunio Motor Shield L293D (5volts from the board)
2. Rx is powered by EMAX SIMON ESC with BEC

Rx will not power on with a 4cell pack as out voltage exceeds the recommended spec 5.5v Max.
Rx will not power on with Brushed ESC which was subjected to reverse polarity and outputs 6v.

Cutting red wire is fine but black should be there! Do like this power the rx with motor board (red/black) and connect the brushed esc with the red wire removed.

this is new ESC and it dont have subject of reverse polarity
but I connected LiPO when Jumper was on NiMH (I m guessing that's not an issue as its only for low battery check system)

Cutting red wire is fine but black should be there! Do like this power the rx with motor board (red/black) and connect the brushed esc with the red wire removed.

After only removing red wire from ESC and giving power from Ardunio, Rx is turning off
(as soon as I am connecting black wire back between Rx and ESC)

Update

I am trying to resolve issue, because suddenly my 3 Rx ( 2x Turnigy 9X 8C and 1 x Hobbyking HKR-3000) stop working with Brand new 2 ESC's (Car ESC Quicrun 1060 and EMAX SIMON) which is little bit awkward

When I am connecting

Quicrun 1060 ESC + Turnigy 9X 8C  = During Power On, its LED Blinking once
Quicrun 1060 ESC + Hobbyking HKR-3000  = During Power On, its LED Blinking once

EMAX SIMON ESC + Turnigy 9X 8C  = During Power On, its LED Blinking once
EMAX SIMON ESC + Hobbyking HKR-3000  = During Power On, its LED Blinking once

All combination have almost same behavior.

Update

1. Hobbyking Rx is Turning ON with Power Bank and getting bind (But I have to connect it multiple time and see when its LED glow more, at that particular of time Rx is ready for Bind) else it just blink once and  very dim

2. Still its working fine in once shot with Ardunio Motor Shield 4.6v

3. Today I got some success, I found my both Turnigy 9X 8C Rx are working find with both ESC ( Hobbywing CAR ESC and EMAX ESC)

Conclusion :

1. Both ESC are fine ( Hobbywing CAR ESC and EMAX ESC)
2. Both Turnigy 9X 8C Receivers are fine
3. Hobbyking Tx Rx is fine only with Ardunio
4. Hobbyking Tx Rx is getting power ON after multiple attempts with Power Bank/EMAX ESC ( not tried much with HW ESC)

5. Unable to identify why Hobbyking Rx (HKR-3000) not working with Both ESC in one shot ??
