Title: HPI Mini Recon RTR 1:18
Post by: ajit4647 on September 17, 2011, 07:37:27 PM
HPI seems to be on a roll. after the Savage XS, their site now lists another mini.

a 1:18 scale mini MT

http://www.hpieurope.com/kit-info.php?lang=en&partNo=101544

runs a 380 size brushed motor. 2.4ghz radio and according to bigsquid pricing should be about 100 dollars.

seems pretty nice. wonder if HPI India would be stocking this. should be a nice entry level rc.

@gandhar - do you think it might be possible to put a castle micro ESC on this?? they make one for 1:18 right??

should be one fun car on brushless.

It should work. I'm not sure the drivetrain will hold up to a brushless system. Maybe something mild but once you crank the power up, you can expect bad things... ;D

Yeah but this one is MOM compatible :D TT is too dusty and fast to run indoors :D

It comes with a ball diff and 4wd. But brushless will be insane for such a small thing.

PS: Lots of car stuff happening these days. Good :)

That looks a little low grade compared to what we are used to from HPI...Just my opinion, i am sure many wont agree, but i just felt it that way when i see savages and bajas and then see such things.

Only case i might feel wrong is when this car might fall around $100

HPI India does plan to stock only if it passes the durability test. We are receiving pre production units this week. Will be upgrading to brushless to see how it handles the power. If it has a 100USD street price abroad expect it to cost around 8k retail in India.

An update on the mini recon: pleasantly suprised on how zippy and fun this car is. Its tough as well because of the soft plastics. the speed with the current setup is more than sufficient being brushed. And as an overall package very few cars will come close if the pricing is right in india.

Also HPI is going to release a performance pack for the car very soon.

I did some reading on this. Yes, it much lesser in quality compared to other Hpi cars. But the car was very popular in Europe as the Atom. Many have been upgraded to BL with minimum overall upgrades.

So I decided that this will be my son's first hobby car. I was thinking of buying abroad. But for once I am not carrying it from abroad. Hope India price is good.
