Title: Important Tips for maintenance of Nitro Engines.
Post by: Jester on January 22, 2012, 10:54:52 AM
In the last 1 year i have observed a few mistakes that i have made which resulted in total damage of one of my OS .46 engines.
Thought i share this with you all.

1) Always use after-run-oil. Its vital to save your engine from oxidation when not used in between for even a few days. Add a few drops into the carb and pull the starter a few times for it to spread evenly to the insides of the engine.

2) Using branded nitro fuel is expensive but it really saves your engine. The difference is that these fuels use synthetic lubricants. Castor oil is good but the problem comes in if you dont use your engine for a long period the castor oil based  fuels dry and cause gumming in the insides of the engine. This becomes a big problem which can lead to permanent damage.

Please do put up any other pointers for all to follow to maintain their cars----

Cheers!!
