Hi guys i am new into rc cars and a total noob. I want to know the reasonable price for the following cars, one of my friend is selling these cars to me(He described the details abt the cars as follows):-

1) 1/10 scale buggy nitro 3cc engine - He is demanding 12000 INR

2) 1/10 scale buggy powered by brushless motor -He is demanding 3000 INR without receiver and battery.

Please help guys.

Hi Jameer, first find out wat u gonna do with it, if you are spending quality time on it running it often go ahead and buy a Nitro, but nitro needs some maintanence and cleanup after evry use. nitro RTR starts at 16k
if u are a first timmer and want 2 spend decent money then go for brushless motor electric RTR rc, starting around 12-14k.
Model art at forum mall gives gud options to buy from.

The brand of the car has a lot to do with its reliability and in turn with the asking price. Please provide more details like age, brand and condition to better judge if it is a reasonable ask.

I never recommend buying a nitro for your first RC car - too much maintenance, proper nitro fuel is not a seasy to find as lipo, and you still have to discover if you love the hobby.  Too much to invest too soon if you go nitro.

I don't recommend against buying a nitro as your first. My first car was nitro. You need to know what you are doing with nitros. Learning to tune and maintain the car is part of the hobby. My personal opinion is electrics are toys compared to nitro since there is basically very little to go wrong.

How can someone say, good fuel is not available. We have the best car fuels in India - Byron, sidewinder and Tornado. Yes, it's expensive, but offers the realism that no electrics however faster they may be will offer. 

Electrics you need to invest big initially on lipos and charger if you wish to race or have extended run time. So decide what's your nature of use. If you plan to race, go nitro.

Yup, all noobs brand new in to the RC car hobby should go nitro and race at the nearest track.  It's easy to tune and clean afterwards.  Also nitro fuel is not expensive compared to batteries.  No problem in racing nitros  if you are a noob, since it's your first crash, you probably won't crash.  Electrics are faster but as a noob you will want the realism of racing and not speed.  Oh and as a noob, you should fully invest everything (max out your credit card if you have too) since you only live once.

I'm sleepy when I write this so tomorrow I  might re-read this post and realize these are bad tips, not good advice at all.

Not if you do your research and know what you are doing. You can connect with more pure car guys both based in India and abroad either at IRCRA group on Facebook or rctech forums.

Theleabres, enjoyed the sarcasm in your post, but works differently in cars. You don't break much in one crash unless you go head on with a wall or rock. If your tuning is off, nothing happens, the engine flames out and car just stops. You have much greater control while the model is on the ground. And at a track, you meet with other racers who help you learn the ropes. Also a track will not have things to damage the car. I may not recommend a nitro aircraft to start, but certainly a car.

I guess it all depends on the budget.  For about Rs 6500, you can get a brand new brushless 1/16 SCT with full metal outdrive set, ESC and servo installed, a 2S 1700p mAh lipo and basic lipo charger, a 2.4 Ghz hobby grade pistol grip radio set - all from HobbyKing.  When you get good with it, throw in a 3S lipo and get close to 80 to 90 kmph!  I have three of these cars, I know.

But if cash is plenty, I would go nitro and get to a track.  However, it might be a little intimidating being a noob out there.  You may want to practice lots first at your nearest parking lot.

yes i agree with lance sir ''it all depends upon your budget'' if you can afford the fuel then go for nitro because 4 liter fuel costs around Rs 2400/-  once you addicted towards nitro then you wont go for electric that's sure  :giggle: i have 2 nitro cars both are gifted by my friend i used it for one year but now i cant afford for the fuel  :banghead: :banghead:
