Make sure that the ESC you're using has LVC(Low Voltage Cutoff).

I didn't upgrade the esc, so am confused wether I can use lipo or not. Any way I will post the pic of my rustler tomorrow

iamahuman

What's the model number of your ESC? Google it and it will mention whether it has LVC or not.

I just checked, the ESC I have XL-1 I think it don't have LVC, so can't I use lipo for this?

iamahuman

You can but you will need a low voltage alarm or an external low voltage cutoff module. You can drive without a lipo but you have to be extremely careful not to over discharge it and it's not recommended.

Ok thank you.. You mean it will not hurt my ESC and motor right?

iamahuman

If you stick to 2s, it won't hurt your motor or ESC. I'll say this again, get an external LVC module or low voltage alarm if your ESC does not have it's own LVC. Avoid running a lipo without LVC or a low voltage alarm.

Ok can I connect  external LVC module or low voltage alarm my self to the stock ESC?

lloyd

Hmmm i think  LVC module is some thing connecting to the lipo module right?

iamahuman

The LVC module will cut power to 0% or 50% after the battery is low and you can notice it. The buzzer hooks up to the lipo. I suppose the LVC module connects to the ESC but I'm not completely sure.

I got 2S Lipo and LVC module for my rustler with esc XL-1, do I want to replace the wiring of esc and motor before connecting the lipo? Lipo wiries seems to be thick so I confused..

iamahuman

Doesn't it come with an instruction manual?

Greetings Sir,

Changing the wires of ESC is very Easy. Please attach a snapshot of ESC and also mention the AWG of wires of Battery and ESC.

If it is a normal ESC, you just need to cut the heat shrink tube of the ESC and de-solder the existing Wires. Then re-solder the required wires.

After this process you also have to have a heat shrink tubing to again the cover the ESC and make it brand new by reattaching the previous sticker.

And If it is a Car ESC with a small plastic box then you need to find a way to open the same. (Simply unscrewing the screws).
and then de-soldering of existing wires followed by re-soldering of desirable wires.

Thanks. Please feel free to call me anytime.
