Title: on-road or off-road?
Post by: Blue_Apple on October 07, 2010, 01:22:57 PM
Two months ago I bought a toy grade rc car for my brother, he likes it very much and now he is into rc car. He wants me to buy him a "real" rc car, so I am looking for one which is appropriate for a beginner. So I want to ask a question here, which one is more suitable? On-road or off-road? And I found 2 models for example: http://www.tinydeal.com/110-scale-electric-powered-onroad-racing-car-px7q8m--p-8604.html and http://www.tinydeal.com/smartech-brushless-motor-speedy-electric-powered-110-scale-hobby-rc-offroad-buggy-car-px7q8m--p-8214.html , what do you think about them? In addition, how about their prices?
Greetings.

Does he like to race? What tracks are available? As far as I know,on road have a greater top speed but off road are more versatile.

He never own a professional rc car himself. I think most rc car hobbyists would also like to race? Many people would like to enjoy the high speed and have fun. But as he is only a beginner, I don't know to choose which kind for him.

If you have got more offraod tracks around your house, obviously the buggy is the way.If you've got more on-road tracks, the on-raod car is the way forward.About the brands,I have no clue on how good the cars you have mentioned are.

Does he like minis by any chance? If he does, take a look at these.I don't know how the minis are(except the RC18T2/B2)but Team Associated is a big name.

If there is any particular kit you want to know about, wait for the experts.

buy a off road one. you can use it for both on road- as well as off road
One thing, the stock electronics on these car dont seem really good, so dont expect some very high end performance
