hey guys, i have bought a new RC Car from my local shop, it looks like this: http://www.ebay.in/itm/Racing-Hummer-H2-SUV-Remote-Control-Battery-Operated-Car-Toy-Gift-Kids-Baby-/171447986807?pt=IN_Toys_Games_School_Stuff&hash=item27eb18aa77

It works on 27mhz signal (cos thats what written over the box)

It needs 4 x AA cell for car and 2 x AA for remote
Remote is pistol type forward back and left right control

The control is very sluggish. its very responsive when the car is near but after few meters is late to respond.

I want to convert this to 2.4Ghz radio, what things would i need to get this done.

Also i was thinking to change the motor to brushless with ESC so that i can control speed
And the current turning mech is very simple with it just moves to left or right but i want to do that using servo.

These are few things which i want to do. I am totally new to cars. I have fair bit of knowledge about RC stuffs but nothing about cars and how it works.

So any help and/or pointer would be highly helpful and appreciated  Hats Off Hats Off

First thing you do is attach a counter poise - take a wire equal to the length of the tx antenna
and solder it to any convenient ground (-)ve point. in the tx. You should be able to notice
an immediate improvement.

2nd if you want further improvement - make the tx antenna - quarter wave - about 103" for 27mhz -
you can connect the additional wire length to the antenna tip. make the counterpoise wire the same length.

both the above should give you a sufficient jump in range to not need modification to 2.4 ghz

In case you are wondering - I started Rc flying from the days when 27mhz AM radios were the only
option and both the above mods were "de rigueur"

just google "ham tiger tail"
forgive me for not giving a detailed explanation - its already explained in numerous sites
also use very fine wire for the mods - like found in mouse cord

yes - 103 inches - use a fine wire and wrap it randomly on a piece wood
you can also make it half that length = 52 inches.

pls  google for the correct length.
