RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

Hi Ritvik... welcome to RC India Smiley

I split out the topic, since it is a unique issue and unrelated to the thread you posted it on.  Hopefully someone here will be able to figure out what is going on.

You should post much more detail though, like what car (brand and model) it is, what radio you are using etc. If it is toy grade, then it would not be surprising, as compared to hobby grade.

Hi Ritvik, same problem with my son's maisto Hummer and one more rc car, actually this I guess is a Radio's range issue. Just notice it happened mainly when you move ahead more than a certain distance, you will face this issue and uniquely only with reverse.  Head Scratching

Btw welcome to RC India.  Smiley

ritvik93,

Firstly, I want to welcome you, though I do not live in India!

Your Maisto is indeed a toy-grade RC. I had a chance to look up some forums, and your model seems to have issues not just with reverse, but steering, as well. I'm skeptical at this point, that your model even has what is known as
proportional steering, which means the steering moves a corresponding amount that you move the steering wheel on your transmitter. Non- proportional steering will go immediately to full right or left, with the slightest amount of input at the transmitter's steering wheel.
Your reverse problem is traced to a bad connection on the circuit board. There is nothing that can be done about it, except to replace it with a hobby-grade RC.

Sorry for the bad news, but I feel you should know what you are up against, and that it would be in your best interest to go hobby-grade, as soon as you are able. Don't let this episode sour you on RC as a whole, as hobby-grade is a very satisfying pastime, and it does allow you to "customize" your car, truck, boat, plane, heli, or what ever RC you decide to do! Grin

Good luck in future, with whatever you decide! It is my hope you will become another hobby-grade devotee! Thumbs Up

i agree with gokemidoro, if its a toy, then its a malfunctioning, if its hobby grade, then it could be the overheat protection(as in T Tr electric cars) where you cant reverse the car immediately after forward running to prevent excessive current draw by the motor.

puneet,

You will be seeing some mods and useful info on HPI Sprint 2's in Rocky Balboa's thread, keep an eye out- there might be something in there you can use, or something that will answer a question you may have!!

Stay tuned!!! Thumbs Up

HYDRO PLANER.....

Ritvik..i accidentally came this post, and please try these attempts once before giving up..stay calm, and open the outer cover(body), carefully. take a piece of paper and a pen, and notice the size of screws, if there any differences in screw size and length.if so, can mark it with a marker pen. examine, inside for, the FWD and REV controls, means , may be controlled by a simple proportional servo, actuating two switches, one for FWD, and REV, or may be pulse based ESC, or may be CPU based ESC.in a conventional servo based switching , there must be a delay circuit, or a braking circuit, to avoid over current surge, in a sudden motor stopping, or reversing.this will neutralize the reverse mod, in a sudden reverse application. you can overcome this by adding two high amp read switches, instead of company one. make sure all connecting links are in its feasible working lengths, and do any adjustments if it needs.its easy and inexpensive.if it is equipped with a PWM, or CPU based ESC, the problem may be due to radio signal loss, or weak signal.you can overcome this problem, easily, but, t of all make sure what is the working frequency of the car. if it in to MGz, fix a simple FM or PPM or a PCM booster just before your antenna. its a simple circuit, can wire on a piece of a card board.and sizes about a 50 paisa coin. works nicely from 6 volts to 16 volts. and if it is in to GHZ, can add a SST driver in your car. before this radio alteration, check the transmission strength, with a field meter, and make sure it is in with feasible range. you can also increase the range of the TX by changing its final stage biasing.
