Building a crawler from scratch is bound to cost more than upgrading an equivalent RTR. If you're ok with that, there's a vast selection of parts out there on ebay. If fully new to this, it could be confusing unless you start with a particular target model in mind, say any axial, redcat, losi, gmade etc. If your plan is for a truck with metal upgrade bits & quality electronics, the cost is gonna be quite big. Everything gets much easier if you could get any supported RTR to start out with & upgrade it to your heart's content.
