Friends..making a car from scratch is far easier than making an aircraft...collect some wheels from a scrapyard, and make a simple steering mechanism, go for direct drive..all with RX 2B RC....wwoooooshhhhhh.......

If only it were that simple Smiley
There's a lot more to think about in the making of an RC car than in a plane. Smiley

For a drifter,a solid rear axle would be interesting.I'm pretty sure that making a differential without machinery would be quite difficult.Drifters basically need slick tires. They should have low traction so that you can begin a drift. If you plan on a suspension, try to use soft springs.Keep the chassis well balanced.

As Divyam has said, there is a lot that goes into making a car.

Well, first of all,I am no veteran.I'm more into offroad cars.Still'the basic principles stay similar. In a drifter, you want to lose traction but in a controlled way.The only rigid axle hobby grade designs I have seen are in 1/12 pan cars.I will read a little more and let you know.

For a drifter, solid axle seems to be the simplest route. Albeit, scratchbuilding a drift car is REALLY hard. Your best bet would be to start off with an on-road kit and just tape the tires up.

You may never find the right sized part for anything, unless you have it custom made. It becomes really expensive then. Might as well go for a Ready To Run car or a kit.

^^

Agree with Divyam.Making one from scratch requires precision machinery.

Good Morning Friends..thanks for the guidelines...by last night, i walked up to my scrap collection,(after my MOM sleeps)..and found 4 good wheels and some useful materials..instead of a differential, i am willing to use an electronic differential with two motors...can anyone give some tips about the steering  angle along with castor setting ...??and any ratio about wheel base..and Human, will you give some idea from your experience about an off road car..? please..because i am too excited from your postings...i have to make one from scratch...

If you're interested in technical stuff, read this....
This should help.

For diagrams, take a look at these. These are diagrams of my car I use(this is an off-
road setup)

Chassis exploded view
Driveline exploded view
Front exploded view
Rear exploded view
Shaft exploded view

For the wheelbase,I suggest you go with the standard wheelbase for 1/10 TC's.
These are the specifications for a Tamiya TA-05 VDF

Chassis Length: 366mm
Width: 188mm
Wheelbase: 257mm
Tread (F/R): 168mm
Direct drive won't work IMO.
