Title: Tuned Pipes is the way to go..
Post by: above the limt on December 10, 2010, 04:15:32 PM
Tuned pipes is the best mod and 1st mod you should consider for your engines.. Most of us in India run on RTR cars.. RTR engines can win races if it is supplied with the right exhaust, aided with precise driving. I recently bought a Jammin JP2 pipe (Pic attached) for my Hongnor Jammin X1 powered by Force .25 engine. Force .25 engine is known to have a heavy torque but not much of high end power compared to the .21 engines. In order to increase my mid to high end power, i opted for JP2 pipe. The build quality is phenomenal, the performance was 1000 times better than my rtr exhaust pipe. I was able to catch up to faster engines like Nosram .21, OS vspec .21 and other .28 engines. With this new combo of Force .25 with JP2 tuned pipe, i was able to give a tough fight. Before you play with gears of your cars like Pinion gear or spur gear,  try upgrading to better exhaust. This is my personal experience.

There are various pipes that will help boost the performance as per your requirement. There are some to boost low end, some for mid range power, some for more top end power and some for even distribution of power. I'm never going to have any of my rc engine run on an ordinary pipe.. Tuned pipes is the way to go..

They are only for nitro right?I remember having read about them being useful only on 2 stroke engines.

a tuned pipe should give performance improvement (at-least some) in any piston engine.

i used a baja tuned pipe X can a couple of months ago...
what pipe you buy will depend on a few things. what you want performance wise (rpm, torque smooth spool up, controlable, or nutty wildass power ect)
and noise level you can deal with (most are similar to the next, but some are loud and same are quiet).

The ones i have posted are for Nitro only.

Ajo used a tuned pipe on his Baja.. Man it sounded awesome and there was visible difference in power.. Most of the RTR pipes only scream but not much on performance.. But tuned pipe is a whole different game..

I really underestimated the performance diff a tuned pipe could provide for the RC nitro engines..

Tuned pipes do make a lot of difference to the overall performance of the engine. But you will need to find the right combo to match your engine specs.

On the Nosram .21 evo buggy engine I use the EFRA 3038 3 chamber exhaust system. On the OS Speed engines we use the OS 2060 tuned pipes.

You car was definately flying during the last RCINC race in Bangalore. Once u get the pro engine it will be even better.

Fantastic..more the number of pro cars, the merrier it will be. We will also have a couple of new RTRs for the race like the HPI Pulse and trophy Truggy 4.6. Should be fun.

Hongnor Jammin X2 RTR truggy will defend its winning streak, Chennai race victory will be a Hat-trick 1st place since the time i started racing my Truggy... So upgrading her with a Tuned pipe..

My Hongnor Jammin X1 RTR buggy has never lost a race, upgrading the engine to match up to the other pro engines.. Chennai track is more demanding on the drivers than the cars..So the best driver will shine in this race..
