RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

This was amazing  Shocked  Wish the audio which is completely in Malayalam had subtitles !  Please skip to the portions where he shows his models and his workshop.

Some points :

1. He started 14 years back, watching a program on National Geographic called "Lost War Planes".
2. He builds them from chart/drawing paper.  The most often used tools are just a knife and a steel ruler.
3. He has done more than 300 warplanes so far. There are some non-war models too.
4. He discourages overseas sales inquiries about his models.
5. He once tried to build a pusher type aircraft using a Yamaha bike engine, but gave up primarily due to cost constraints.
6. He hates to part with his models, so this remains a non-income type hobby.
7. He gets job offers from places like the International War Museum, but he wants to stay in India, and dedicate his work to Indian soldiers by creating a museum with his models.
8. His aspiration was to be a fighter pilot.

The first report says he is "Rupesh Keereeyat, Chombala, Near Vadakara, Kozhikode District, Kerala".

But the report below (which seems to be more recent) says he is "Rupesh Keereeyat, Kunjippalli, Kozhikode District, Kerala".

If you are trying to contact him, send postcards to both, and see whichever reaches the destination.

L'enfant Terrible du RCIndia

I went through the attached videos very carefully. He is, undoubtedly, a good modeller. However, why does the TV Channel try to give the impression that he has built all his models out of scrap and chart paper? From what I saw, most of the models are plastic kits, the decals, markings and acrylic cockpits are a dead giveaway. No scratch modeller, working out of scrap materials only, will have access to such accurate markings/canopies. At one point of time, he does say something about 1:72 and 1:144 scales, the common scales available in plastic kits.

I don't know if he claims to be a complete scratch builder (Didn't understand what he said as I don't speak the language) if he did, that would be a shame.

Nevertheless, whatever is being claimed, this guy is one hell of a dedicated modeller who is very good at his job!

Cheers!

He did say that these are scratch built, and mostly from plans he sources out from the internet etc.  So the size itself may not be an issue (if he got the plans that are in standard scales, he would have built them that way).  About the decals, I can't see why they cannot be cut out of tape etc, but unless one sees them in person, it is hard to confirm anything.

Sir, if these models are scratch built, then this guy is beyond anyone on this planet. I'm not joking. I've interacted with several scratch builders internationally, and have seen photographs of their models. They don't achieve even a fraction of what this gentleman has achieved using simple cardboard and chart paper.

hi there,
i dont think he is using only cardboard and charts he is also using some wood parts also, because in card board we cannot give exact curve shapes like external fuel droptanks ,nose cones etc. apart from this i dont think he is building die cast models or plastic models becoz in die cast models ull see exact scale reduction but im seeing some missmatches in sizes and shapes in some models !!! Roll Eyes ,correct me if im wrong Grin

I wonder how he makes such EXACT clear canopies? I have made some using the vac form method using male wooden moulds, but these are PERFECT.

HYDRO PLANER.....

Respected modellers, we can simply mould the canopies, with acrylic sheets, by making a positive mold, of the cock pit, or cavity, by plaster of paris, or by metal filler.. then smooth it by smooth grit sand paper with water.. after that we can simply heat up the acrylic sheet by dipping the sheet in to a bowl of hot edible oil, until it streaches.. before putting on to the moluld we must make a female cut regarding to the shape of the positive mould.. then place the sheet over the canopy positive mould.. then press with the female piece.. within seconds.. canopy moulded.. while talkinh it feel like something big thing.. but when works, its all easy.. will add some idea to make the canopies.. Thumbs Up
