Hi All,

Is aerial photography permitted in India? I have once been questioned on the use of a cam onboard my my easystar !!!
since then i have refrained from doing so.. is any one aware of the actual rules?
Anyone else faced any issues ?

Pramod ,
Around strategic areas like airports  and defense installations it would surely not be allowed  but other than that I dont think there will be any problems.

Dear Mr. Sai,
It is very difficult by a civilian to know the restricted areas like defense installation in their areas. like we have in our area. We have a Air force station (radar installation- no airfield) as well as mountains which also have radar installations and we fly just below those mountains. how can we come to know about those restrictions if any in that particular area? do we have to contact Air force station?

Pramod,

If it is the same field where we fly, then i think it is the restricted area. if i am not wrong Sanjay Gandhi National park comes under such zone and the mountain is a part of it.

I doubt its as much about where you are flying and recording video, but what may happen with that video on the web. Preferrably just be an aeromodeller and learn and have fun flying. Filming in any case isn't aeromodelling.

basically all airspace above(upto a certain extent) and around a defense establishment is restricted for flying and videographing...
i don't know the exact range, but it would be safe to just keep clear of recording around these areas... i guess it's safe to do in lesser populated or unprotected area's...
