Well There is one way which i heard that after paying the duties if you think that the duties levied on your Article Is high then you can question customs that you were charged duties that you think is very high and then they will Investigate the case and yes if the duties levied were high and not exactly to their Duties Rates then they will return you the Excess amount but it is after you pay the duties and i really dont know much about it but yes i will surely try to find out.But yes it will Really Take a lot of time and yes it is like 50 - 50 % that the duties paid may be returned or not.
No aman, it is to be done this way !
If you pay and take delivery of the parcel, nothing can be done afterwards.

1. The procedure is you should not accept the parcel. Take copy of the duty bill when post man bring the parcel to you.
2. Do not accept the parcel. Ask the post man / post master to return the parcel to the customs for reassessment.
3. Write a letter to the customs (postal appraising department) stating that the parcel is not accepted by you due to high duties and ask for reassessment. Attach, copy of duty bill, invoice, catalog etc.
4. Also, give copy of the letter to the post master.
5. The post master will send the parcel to the customs and you will get the parcel back after sometime after the reassessment.

This is the procedure I followed once and this is also printed in the duty bill.

Unfortunately, this may take one more month time but the success is not guaranteed. Also, your parcel may go missing.

@ Aman, its a RC quad around 35$.
@ Rcparkjets, that's right. But if that's through courier, then its better to pay the amount most of the times because the detention and demurrage charges over a month may become higher than the cost of the product itself. This is in addition to the challenge of parcels getting missed.

Hello Everyone,
@ Rcparkjets Sir :- Hello Sir,
Well Yes actually that's correct its my fault but I didn't know that so that's why I also mentioned that I will ask customs I also wrote there 'I heard' but no I was Wrong maybe I read somewhere wrong but yes Thanks For correcting me.Today I gained another knowledge about customs Procedure thank you So much for that. Well it is our seniors who correct us and make us learn Right, sir?
Thank you So much once again. Besides that's correct that it will take much time and also May be lost and any person whose parcel was stuck at customs for more than 1 month and then wrong duty levied and then if He/She Sends for reassessment that it would take more a month that would be really not good I think so.
But yes today I learned a New Thing thanks Once again For That Sir.

@ GP :- Hello GP,
Ok So as its R/C quad the value is not a problem here as near to 2170 rs but the Problem is that Its R/C Quad is it coming From hobbyking.com or Banggood.com or Some other website??? Well if It Contains Tx/rx then surely customs will require WPC NOC and believe me mate its really hard to get WPC NOC. But if its not including any tx/rx chances are there that it may get cleared but as most of the Quads comes with Tx/Rx 80 to 85 % of the  R/C quads with Tx/rx gets stuck and customs demands  WPC NOC. But don't worry lets see what happens. But if the customs demand WPC NOC then you will have to return it and get the money back. But yes they May send you a letter in this case stating that they are requiring WPC NOC for this article  ( as in most of cases they do ).But if you have not received the Letter then here are the Contact Details Of The Chennai Customs/FPO :-
Address: No.1, Mooker, Nallamjdhu Street, Chennai-600001
 Tel: (+9144)25240963
 Fax: (+9144)25240962
 E-Mail: packpost@gmail.com
Another Number :- 044-22560941,22561945,22561184
And Yes don't worry.
Regards,
Aman.

Hello Everyone,
@Cyberhack :- Hello Cyberhack,
Well Actually Many Members have importrd FPV Gear Successfully.Well but I cant Guarantee because many Parcels which were  containing FPV gear were detained and got stuck in customs like it happens when we order a Radio Tx/rx and were sent back and the Persons who ordered got their money back. But this has Happened Very Less times not always like Rafio Tx/rx in which customs Require WPC NOC also who knows customs may change the rule detain every parcel .But Yes the Success rate is much more than the Radio Tx/rx.Well you can also contact any member who would have imported FPV gear asking their experience of importing FPV gear but yes always there will be a Risk of getting stuck in customs as Its type of Tx/rx,right?? So the choice is yours there are chances of getting the parcel cleared its not 50-50 but maybe like 65-35 %.See many Persons/Members who imported Stuff never got any problems in Customs. There are WPC Restrictions you may get in to Problems But No Always.
Regards,
Aman.

hello guys,
I made an account here mainly to gets some questions clarified about this topic .
Must say,you people are giving great information Smiley
So here goes,
I am an individual ordering for personal use.
my orders are from dhgate.com
All my orders are via registered airmail (China airmail or Singapore/hongkong post)
These take min 10-30 days delivery.

So proceeding to my set of queries ,
A)
First about my current orders
I have say a couple of Chinese smartwatches 50$ each (separate parcels from separate sellers )
And a remote control quad copter (model no CX 20 auto pathfinder) worth 350$.
(Note: I just read a aman Bros replies to another persons reply who as seems from chennai about quad copters, I'm kinda worried n have no idea about what these things mean Tx DX n stuff as aman says are hard to get clearance, but my products name reads "CHEERSON CX20 auto pathfinder " so I hope it doesn't fall under DX or tx . just praying Sad

As far as these 3 go, I have messaged the sellers to invoice the product at 20$ each for Watches and 50$ for quad copter and declare them as gift too.

P.s. each of these are individual separate orders .

B) I have a couple of Chinese Chromecast alternative called d Miracast(20$ each X2  in one order.. Which makes it 40$ order.
And another order which contains a couple of virtual laser keyboard (like a laser keyboard projector which you can carry in your pocket and use to type )
This costs 45$ my order contained 2 pieces which makes total order 90$ approx +10$ for shipping.

Sofor the above two orders, the sellers were so quick that they shipped my product before I could msg them about declaring gift or undervaluing, so I do not know how it has been invoiced

Again reminding you,
All my orders are by registered China airmail.

So I would like to know the fate of customs charge or levy on these products ,
And tips to follow to avoid custom charges whatsoever.
I am planning to order some mobile phones worth 100-200USD in a few days and am looking for some tips as I can see many have gotten thru without customs duty for mobile in this thread .

I'm new here,so please forgive me for any mistakes in my query .
Thank you in advance .
Waiting to hear back from experts .
I am from chennai BTW Smiley
Thanks again.

Hello Everyone,
@Ricard:- Hello Ricard,
First Of All Welcome To The Forum. Now First Your Smart watches well As they are Separate Parcels From Separate Sellers I think it wont be a Problem and also Smart watch is not prohibited Or Restricted item so they should get clear soon.Well this is what I think. So this should be not a problem but yes duties can be imposed but not high it would be minimal Duties that also the Chance is very less but as the Parcels are Destined to Same address and with The Same person Name customs may notice this and duties may be imposed but as I told chances are less. But Yes If The Retention Reason in The Tracking Status comes like 'Waiting For The Proof Of Purchase/Value From The Receiver ( That is you Obviously) then in That case you may have to Send them A Copy of Invoice or Proof Of purchase by Post to Them Or can directly visit them and show the Documents but yes the may send you a letter stating that They Are requiring a Proof Of purchase/Value.But also it may get clear Without showing the Documents.
Well Now About the CX 20 Auto Pathfinder Quadcopter well As you know its a Quadcopter and it comes with Transmitter ( Remote Control) Well if it is not coming with Transmitter ( Remote Control) Then chances are there that it may get cleared but yes If the Quadcopter Is Coming With Tx( Transmitter) Then the customs Require WPC NOC to Clear it and Believe me its really hard to get WPC NOC and in that Case the person request/ask the Customs to send the parcel back and get The money back. But yes sometimes rarely Customs may clear it So Lets see what happens.
Now About the Miracast Well Many Persons Have Imported Chromecast and Many Other Streaming Devices and have not faced any problems and also Its not a Restricted or Prohibited item so i think It should Get clear. Clearance may take time ( sometimes it happens not trying to demoralise you but sometimes It Gets cleared soon so it all Depends on Customs ) and About the Virtual Laser Keyboard its not a Restricted/Prohibited Item Either so i think it should Get clear well this is what i think.
Now If you see about Customs Duties well as this All are coming by Registered Airmail Chances are less that Duties may be imposed as i said about that First.Well About Ordering of the Mobiles well as its not a Prohibited/Restricted item you can order it but what i would Suggest that First its better to Receive All The Parcels you have ordered till now then order for them because If Customs may notice that many Parcels are being imported by you in your name And that too in Same address it may cause a problem ( well it may not sure that it will but it may just a Thought in my Mind). Well So its better that The parcels you have ordered first let them get delivered then its your choice to order them well you can also order now as you like it as that is just a thought but i never take risks. And Yes don't worry and I Hope that all parcels get cleared well CX20 Path Autofinder Quadcopter May cause Problem if it contains A Transmitter ( Remote Control) as customs will Require WPC NOC for that but yes you request/ask/tell Customs to send it back so you can get your money back. And also can I know by which payment Method have you paid for all these times is it through Paypal Or Directly through Your Card?? and also if possible can you give me The Tracking Numbers of the Consignments ?? if possible then only because as I respect your privacy. And Yes don't worry.
Regards,
Aman.

As in the tracking
The customs demand your invoice.

And it is being withheld by them.

The duty amount is 28% here in delhi
