I suggest you wait for a few days...You never know, maybe they will release it automatically or they will contact you through letter asking for documents...As to your query regarding how you can prove that its a gift, i really have no clue. Maybe the more experienced members will be able to help.

It takes about 30-45 days of time for a shipment to arrive when shipped via post (China or Hong Kong). It should arrive within this time. Also aliexpress is a very reliable source if you are starting to have doubts about shipment.

my product is a 8inch tablet ordered from aliexpress costing me rps 6100/-, my seller has good rating from whom i ordered, he has shipped the tablet using singapore post. tracking no is RB03*****SG
i read above post and got to know that if tracking no. starts with ''R' that is registered airmail ,customs are not applied/skips small package.
can you please tell me will the customs be applied to my tablet? which is i think less than 700gms

i recently visited EMS Mumbai office. but if u thing you recived your mobile this is not possible. i see front of me they open all parcel and check. now they have good knowledge in pricing. outside office cabin so many agent uncle available and without paying money u not get u r mobile and u pay min 8000 - 10000

My friend buy a wriet watch from ebay and it shipped from hongkong via singapore and now it is at delhi ems centre and tracking EX014193385SG show that India,Delhi,EMS Speed Post Centre, Record Item Customs information  (inb),Air,CED,New Delhi-2, Retention reason: Awaiting proof of purchase/value from Addrresse.
I dont know what to do its my first experience. This message arrived on 3feb2016 and there is no letter from anybody. I have email delhi customs at delhicusproc@gmail.com with proof of purchase. Please tell me is everthing ok ? And how much it takes to reach my place, ready to pay duties and all . It costs $104. Please help. Its like burden on my head.

I have received my watch today its pin is broken & the battery is also almost dead becz the digital console in it its blinking..i have done the dispute share the pics with them for the full refund, just wanna to know guys how all this thing goes for the refund process & so on...

I have talked to seller he had agreed for the refund now i have to send the package bck to china...so any clue guys how to do it & what will be the charges for tht???

You should tell your seller that you will send the package back to them but the shipping will have to be borne by them as it is not your fault that they have sent you a bad product. It's gonna cost you to send it back which is usually higher if the product is cheap.

I think you should just visit them and ask what the problem is. When such a message is showed they usually expect you to go see them and probably will try to take something if it falls under any of the problematic categories( cell phone and tablets are). Otherwise its a simple process, it will be released from customs and will come to the local India post office and the post man will deliver you and you will have to pay the duty in cash. In case it doesn't reach even after release you can GOTO local post office and get your parcel by paying the duty.

The bribes are only way out. The issue is that when importing any wireless communication device you need to have an import license (by rule). The phone manufacturers who do it in bulk do it via proper process and they don't get into these issue. You are paying them because you did not know the process and are at their mercy weather to release or detain. Also if the invoice value of product is low and product looks pricy they grill you again for wrong declaration. Otherwise stuffs do come smoothly out from post office.

You will atleast have to contact and understand the real issue. They usually have dates for which they open the packages for example if you parcel arrived on 1st Feb you should find out with them what date are they doing today and accordingly they will clear if there are no need of any clarifications, if there is then you will have to visit to clear. Usually all my small shipments have gone through without much issue and in some cases has even taken upto 45 days from order to final delivery.

You did not need to go anywhere. Just wait for their email or letter (which should take 10 days from your staus on tracking). You can even call them and giving your tracking id they may transfer your call to concerned officer. You can ask them what documents are required and send them on email (ask their mail).

It takes time to clear a parcel when stuck in customs. Be patient. your parcel will release as soon as u present the required documents and if charged by duty, it will be collected by postman at your door step (Do ask him for the receipt).

Hello thers an question , has any one particularly in this thread ever paid the penalty of 6000 besides the duty of 42%,  as a reason i think i have to pay it. Will the customs people will actually charge the penalty?

Yes recently our friend in this forum has paid rs.6000 as penalty (The actual minimum penalty is Rs.5000 + 1000 is stocking & warehousing fees )
If you are charged by penalty + 42% of duty , and you feel it is too high, you can reject the parcel and request them to send back to seller. If you agree to pay dont forget to collect the receipt from the postman.

There is a procedure for claiming refund for paid duty, but it is long,tiresome and totally hopeless . There are very little chance of you getting the refund. You will be trialed as if you were criminal.

accha, ok recently i have meet an customs clearing person who has been visiting my home recently saying he would help me in clearing the parcel, as in the backdoor process and all. but was stating that i will not  get the receipt. he lives in mumbai and i live in hyderabad, can we trust these agents? will they actually clear or or just fake.

Dont worry its quite common if the package is in customs, and stuck there, my own package is stuck in customs from past 40 days, dont worry, its depends upon the package what is inside it, so if its still there in customs u might get letter from customs, for stating the inside product details?  If u dont get any then call them and its recommended for u wait for some  more days.  s i might come out of customs.
