My package stuck on customs from more than a month total of 43 days.
opened dispute I got below msg today from Aliexpress dispute team. Kindly help me to get my money back.

According to the shipping information, it is your local customs that hold this package and delayed the delivery. Normally it would be detained because:

1. Certain required document is missing, such as invoice, import license or certification etc.;
2. Penalty caused by wrong customs value;
3. Violation of intellectual property rights or counterfeit products;
4. Non-government institute detains the shipment;
5. Against of your local regulations;
6. Customs clearance delay.

Please notice that it is the buyer's duty to do normal customs clearance and pay the tax.

Since our meditation is based on the detained reason, please confirm with your local customs and provide official documents from them or other evidence to clarify the exact detained reason within 7 days. If you failed to provide evidence to clarify the detained reason by due date,we will release the payment to the seller accordingly.
P.S. If there’s any agreement reached with the seller before this case is closed, please let us know. Or AliExpress shall have the right to proceed to handle the Claim based on the evidence provided by both you and the seller.

Please note that when you cancel the claim, we will assume you agree to release the payment to the seller.

As the mail says, the fact that the package is stuck in customs is not the seller's fault so I don't think you can get a refund unless you have the package returned to the sender. May we ask what was in the package? Have you been contacted by customs? What is the retention reason/ current tracking status?

You should have contacted the Foreign Post office within 20 days of delay. Below is the contact number for the same. Give your tracking id of parcel and they may help you to locate it, and Will give you contact numbers of Customs ,where you can ask them reason for detain/retention.

Search google for chennai foreign post office (ask them customs number) or search for customs chennai and call and ask them for number of customs dealing with international post. You need to do little homework for that

Hi one of my orders from Aliexpress was sent via Chinapost.. I dont see any tracking updates on their site after 27 Novemeber.. can anyone help me?

Thanks who helped me. on26 feb i went to delhi fpo and showed proof of purchase, actual it costs me 255$, i manage to show proof of $104, so its now under 10k, and regarded as a duty free, payment is in AUD to USD, actual duty was to be 5175 rupees, i pay only 1000 rupees and got parcel inhand by completing formalities. so i wanted to thanks who helped me, it was my first experience with customs dept. , i get info from google and this site. yeah i learnt enough to deal with customs now. :-)

Recently I came to know that it is HELD BY CUSTOMS.
The pack includes :

There was no declaration or information on customs.But now it says HELD BY CUSTOMS.

Hi zalman , I tried tracking your parcel , but there is no update such as 'Held in customs' .
Your package is currently In India , and is sent to Kochi CED , after verification from Cochin customs office Tracking will update as 'Item sent to domestic location' .

Anyway don't worry , all these is normal procedures , you will get the item delivered in few days...

I placed an order on Aliexpress. It shows the seller has shipped my order but the  Indian customs have it on hold. How can i retrieve my parcel. what should i do? My tracking number is RS414773054NL. I have always received my packages within a day of the status changing to "Receive item at delivery office". It means your package has cleared customs and is at your local PO for delivery. If you have not received it yet there is a good chance the package has been lost or stolen. Try visiting or calling the mentioned post office to inquire about your parcel.

A fried of mine sent me a phone from US via USPS with First Class. But there is no tracking no he received. Obviously he did not paid for that service. How will I be able to track that here in India?
Any help or guidance will be appreciated.

I ordered something a long time ago with USPS First Class and I wasn't able to track it. I don't think you can track it once it leaves the US.

Also, sorry to say this but there's a good chance it will be scanned at customs. If they find out it's a phone, they might charge you heavy duty + a fine.

what do you mean by saying if customs finds it, its a phone? Its a gift, for gift too they will charge me?

I don't recall the specifics because it was a long time ago, but I dropped importing a phone from the US for this reason.

I think if you import a phone above a certain value (don't recall) you are charged a fine. You are also charged anywhere up to 60% of the phone value as customs duty. And since you used USPS First Class, it's almost certain they will check your package in customs. I ordered an arduino set and they charged me 25% customs tax on it (600 rs) when it arrived. I didn't want to pay that much and already had an existing arduino set so I returned it to the seller.

You just have to wait, I think it took more than a month for it to arrive. Post office won't know where it is as the tracking doesn't appear in their system.

It depends on custom officer's mood. Also it's possible that your package goes through with no problems and you don't have to pay any tax.

The gift option (to avoid import tax) only applies to items worth $5 and less. It's obvious a phone is worth a lot more than that so they can charge import duty.

Is your phone in the original box and sealed? That's also a problem.

he said tht he sent it on 12th March, i believe its not sealed. Coz for chking he must have opened it.

Can you use proper language?
Sms language is ok few times but not everytime.
