Please do not invent new materials....... Bakelite is a heavy material and also very brittle..... If you still want to .... please go ahead.

Hey Taksh! Hope you're doing fine Smiley

I was thinking of something like 'concrete'. Let's meet up this weekend and do something about it. And tell me what do you think about titanium, as well.

Don't make joke.
You said "Concrete" You already know concrete is not light weight material and bakelite is good thing to use.
Every year almost many electronics waste is not treated and remaining thing is bakelite and copper on the surface of bakelite.
Bakelite is strong also. So, Bakelite can be used.

As you said "Titanium", i want to make pulse jet engine so i need titanium pipe. But price is thousand for 1 meter pipe.
I can't afford Titanium pipe. I will use a cheap titanium alloy pipe to make pulse jet engine in the future.

Thanks.

I second that!
Maybe we could use bricks as spars and use TMT iron rods (sariya) as pushrods? We will need a 8 liter Chevrolet engine to just move the plane on the ground!

As for Bakelite, it's feather weight. Too light to be used in RC planes. Lighter than balsa as well.

@ taksh
We all know Bakelite can't be used. It's damn heavy. How'll you shape it?
You fly a RC plane made with Bakelite, we'll take back out words.

Flying liberates my Soul !!!

Hey Taksh,

I don't know what is your intent..to me it appears it may be one or all of the following:

1. To announce that you have discovered a new material to build planes earlier not known.

2. To make an indestructible plane.

3. To save the world by recycling bakelite.

Now my pointwise explanation:

Point 1. The aeromodelling community has many other light weight, cheap, easy to work with options other than bakelite.

Point 2. If you will learn flying then for you any plane will be indestructible. People fly balsa, EPP, Thermocol made planes fully intact. So, flying skills matter to fly these mortal planes.

Point 3. The aeromodelling community has many other light weight, cheap, easy to work with options other than bakelite. But, well you may proceed ahead with your noble cause. But do update us.

@prabal276
Your thinking is different from me. I am not experienced person in rc plane.
As you said "bricks as spare and tmt iron rods as push rods", you should have to search about polystrene(thermocol) recycling and polystyrene concrete blocks.
Polystene recycled by mixing cement with polystrene dana. And block made of cement and polystrene mixture is cheap. These block is a type of concrete and can used in many application.
Think different and do different.
if scientist never think different than normal people then how world get technology?
Have you ever think about bakelite waste and bakelite recycling.
Electronics waste killing poor people and poor people have to recycle electronics because of money if people start using bakelite then problem of electronics waste can be solved.
Plastic is also problem.
We all now, one time will come when we will die. So, do something for your country, do something for poor people, do something for the nature.

I know bakelite is heavier than depron and other foam but it doesn't mean bakelite can be used in rc.
Bakelite can be used for making firewall.

@taksh

The ideology of 'recycling' is pretty good to see these days. But instead of pursuing bakelite, I'd suggest to make wings and frame from old circuit boards. You may add extra reinforcements if required.

BTW, didn't mean it as a joke; at least not this one.

If you still want to fly the concrete, checkout flite-test.

Here's what the observation I just made. Using bakelite in the context of recycling is pretty good, but taking into consideration the extra load to motors which then wear out the battery packs at an accelerated pace, and the damages incurred in the event of a crash, I'd say, it's not worth it.

But if you're genuinely interested in recycling, solve some real problem.

You could build cars or boats with bakelite though. If you want to recycle stuff, find a way to recycle thermosetting plastics. You could change the world.
