RC India

Hello there everyone. Glad to be member of this organization.  :) . My question is same again on the customs department. I know.. I know, its an well discussed topic but still i am having a few doubts. i have searched the forum but have not found anything about it. if there is a thread please guide me to it.

I want to buy a traxxas slash 4x4. As can be seen the truck retails at 490$ and adding shipping to it the total cost comes to 580$ (Rs. 39,000 as of 3/9/16). Though it has a quick charger and a LiPo but still the truck itself does not have stability management or the on-board audio.

So clearly we can see that buying on ebay.com is much cheaper and better. Now here is my question..
What are the chances that my package from ebay.com will be ceased or stopped at the customs? I mean I don't have any problem in paying the duties that are due, but is there any reason that my package will be ceased as it maybe carrying any prohibited thing? It comes with a 2.4ghz 3 channel radio but it is not in the prohibited list but still i have gathered from the threads that sometimes it may face trouble. So please tell me, if you can, that weather buying it from ebay.com is safe or should I pay Rs. 61.5k and buy it from ebay.in? Thanks in advance. Any input is appreciated. :) Screenshots are attached for reference. :)  

There is a third option. I can buy the 2WD traxxas slash for 30k at ebay.in. :) . I like that option but I would really really love the 4WD version.

Hey! If you trust the seller then ask him to ship the remote separately and the car separately and remember to not choose EMS (remotes are usually a problem). Use normal registered post or FedEx. And If you are willing to pay 61000 from eBay.in then you might as well declare a high custom value if not fully (when using FedEx) (for my last rc car purchase I paid 40% taxes).

Thank you pawan123 for replying. Would you please share how did you by your RC car? I mean from which website and how did you get it delivered? And my sister lives in USA. Will it be convenient if i ask her to send me the RC car? After she has bought it from a local hobby store? And I am trying to bring in the car as a whole unit. :) Anyways thank you for your input pawan123

Haha! For an Individual to Ship from usa is not cheap XD . I bought a rc car from HobbyKing with two batteries using FedEx. Usually the seller is a hobbyshop and you can send him an email directing what you want him to do. If you order it as a set, the chances of it getting stuck are extremely high.  Rc car radios are readily available form stores here in India. So don't worry if you don't get the other package.

Hey I just watched the unboxing looks like its well packed in one box and can be ordered in one set directly from ebay. You should not have a problem. But if I were ordering that I would ask the seller to remove the radio and ship it separately because of some issues I had recently. Also when I ordered my car I had a radio with it and FedEX cleared it with no problems! Just ask the seller to ship through FedEX and you should most probably be good. :D

Thanks pawan123. You gave me a good idea. actually a version of the RC truck is available which comes without the receiver and the transmitter. And it comes in cheap too. i think it will help me to avoid getting my RC truck stuck at customs. Is there any way to reduce the taxes from 40%. LOL I do realise i am asking for a lot. If you ask the seller to decrease the declared value then you may have to pay less. But since everyone has a smartphone and an internet connection it is very difficult to evade it, and if you are caught declaring a low amount then you may be heavily fined. Be smart declare the full amount there is nothing wrong. Help the country. 

OK pawan123 you are right. So the truck costs Rs.26,000 .. So probably am looking at a tax amount of Rs.10,000 :)

While you're at it, check these amazon.com listings qualified for "India shipping/AmazonGlobal" feature. You'll get it in 2 weeks max, mostly without any customs charges. If so, the prepaid customs amount(5-10k) taken during payment would be refunded in a day's time. If you don't get delivery, full refund. I got my Redcat this way. Choose from Aramex or an express shipping(DHL, Fedex etc). Ebay.com for radio packages can be a risky affair. Your most preferred item seems to be the first link.
