I am thinking do i need to buy a expensive fpv goggle to get   good fpv experience?

I already have a smartphone a otg fpv rx..can i just buy this and get a good experience...or is it just a gimmick.

You don't need FPV Googles to get a good experience. But, tbh fpv goggles give a better experience in terms of the immersion of the flight. If you are looking for a fun flight, fpv Goggles gives you a great birds eye view. In my personal use, displays work better for me, as it is a more safer choice if I lost my orientation when flying, I can correct my fault by looking at the craft easily. And, the displays and goggles differ in use. If you are flying a racer quad ,it's the best choice. For a plane or a larger quad, it depends.

I was hesitant to spend 5k on rc fpv goggles with god knows what kind of screen quality...

My assumption is that since a smartphone screen is better, it shud be a better experience...
