We all know the bad news from Chennai and surrounding areas hit by never ending rains and hence flooding. It would be asking a bit too much from the people from there, but there should be someone who can relay info about the situation and how we from rcindia can be of help

Re:

Water receded in most of the places. Food and shelter is provided by many good people. People from not affected area are helping those in affected areas. Helps are pouring in from all sides, but man power is needed. Though many networks provides free calls and data, there are problems with mobile network,  power supply (resumed in many areas),  fuel which the government has to take care.  MTC buses gives free ride for next four days.  Trains are also running on select timings.  People are airlifted to safe places.  Chennai can take care of itself from now on , if there is no rain again.  Please look for southern districts like cuddalore,  as the climate depression is moving there.
(I live in less affected area. I going to south side today and tomorrow.  I will let you know if help is needed.)  ☺

Stay calm, and soar

Anyone has a multirotor big enough to transport food/first aid kits? We can restore their lost reputation by doing some good deeds with it.

It is a tricky thing to say, but a localite RC flier should be able to do it easier. A bird's eye view and dropping light packages could be handy and should be okay if the authorities are willing to let do it. Don't just take your so called drone and start flying, which can escalate the situation out of hand.

Really good to hear that the situation is improving. I slept only at 4.40 in the morning watching the complete news from the TV channels and there views were bad.

Well-spent day on flying field brings happy sleep

Already news channels are shooting the affected area by using multicopters. Hope there should not be any problem delivering things in multicopters.
