Pity that it was all happening close to where I stay and by the time I got to know if it, it was all gone.

The last time this happened was during the Sino Indian conflict 1962. As the Chinese army approached Tezpur, all the Tea Garden Executives were airlifted to Kolkata. Detonators were mounted on all available vehicles and machinery and the remaining staff were ordered to blow them up to prevent them falling into enemy hands. The population of Tezpur was evacuated as best as possible.

The story goes that State Bank was asked to destroy all currency notes and that proved to be a Herculean staff for the skeleton staff on duty. After burning some notes, they dumped the entire lot into the Brahmaputra. The rest is history. The Chinese stopped near Bhalukpong (50 km from Tezpur), ceasefire was announced and some people waiting by the banks of the Brahmaputra, fished out the notes and  became millionaires overnight!

Amit_delhi, you are making it easier for me to make some money quickly. What you have done is defamatory and I don't find it amusing in the least.

Group Captain Augustine @ Gusty @ rcpilotacro and I share a bond of friendship. Please don't make the mistake of equating yourself similarly. I will expect a public apology from you.

While we are laughing about the issue and other things, a poor boy died in the pond while trying to grab hold of currency notes. I am sure his family doesn't find anything funny. R.I.P.

BTW, Amit_delhi upset me and I docked him a negative reputation. His rep went from 3 to 2. Thereafter he apologised and removed the picture, which I felt was credit worthy and I tried to restore his rep by giving him a +1 and this is what I see. Come on Mods, it is human to err. Amit has apologised and that takes a LOT of guts. Pls set his rep back to where it was. Now I am feeling guilty.

Practice, and only Practice will make you perfect

1.  The help is limited to the following tasks : Removing unnecessary quotes from replies, moving topics to the right boards & fix external links in posts that are not working.  For now, these and ONLY these are the tasks that are to be performed.

2.  Even at the slightest hint of any conflict (which may or may not involve the mod) in a thread, he will NO LONGER make any modifications to that particular thread. It has to be brought to my notice. This is to protect the moderator's credibility, and the sanity of the forum.

Mod can't do anything, they are limited to task number 1, task number 2 is anwar bhai's prerogative.

^^ That. IMO, the only two people who could have removed that apart from the member were Anwar and Rajesh( Rotorzone).

VC,

There is/was no apathy. There is a difference between you reporting it vs somebody else reporting it. I saw it as an attempt at humour. But what I think doesn't matter here. What matters is what you think of it as the affected party. Your reporting it would have resulted in removal of the picture as soon as I reading the report. The reasoning for this is can be found in your own post.

Group Captain Augustine @ Gusty @ rcpilotacro and I share a bond of friendship. Please don't make the mistake of equating yourself similarly. I will expect a public apology from you.

Moderators cannot be aware of personal equations between each member. It is acceptable to you in one case but not in another. That is why I'd rely on your own reporting of the post vs others.

All said and done, it is best resolved between you two and I'm glad that is what happened.

Regarding fixing the reputation, I don't see a way of doing it. Only Anwar can do that I guess.

Irrelevant portions edited.

Sir,

Thanks for the response. However, there are a couple of points that I would like to mention here:

1. Morphing / digitally altering someone's photograph (without explicit permission) and posting it on the internet is unacceptable by law anywhere in the world. There can be no ambiguity between that action and "an attempt at humour". Whether or not I (or any other viewer) protested, it should have immediately been removed and the person censured by the Admin team.

We are very strict about not posting plans/pictures on this forum from other sites. Only links are allowed for fear of the legality involved. How come this dual standard when it comes down to a sensitive issue such as morphing a members photo and posting it here? How can this be seen as "an attempt at humour"? Or is this an example of apathy? You decide.

2. The difference between the posts of rcpilotacro and amit_delhi were akin to cheese and chalk. I merely cited the example of personal equations to keep things civil and to try and prevent myself from reacting the way I REALLY should have done. It is not a case of "acceptable to you in one case but not in another". Personal equations aside, do you really feel that the posts / actions of rcpilotacro and amit_delhi are on the same platform and deserve the same treatment? Put yourself in my place and cast aside personal equations, would you have treated them both in a similar vein?

Regards.

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

I agree with RotorZone, and it was exactly my train of thought.  The reasons can be further clarified as below.

1.  When any offensive content is posted in public even on larger sites (Facebook, blogging sites, Youtube etc), the sequence of events are typically that someone reports it, the administrators review it, and ASK the poster to take it down.  They don't go remove it themselves as the first step.  Only when the original poster refuses, then the admins take further steps (including taking it down themselves).  A lot of times, it is resolved between the reporter and reported, without the admins getting involved at all.

2.  In this case, as soon as this is reported either publicly or privately, I expected the original poster to take it down, and he did... with due apologies.

I am not sure we need to hold ourselves (the admin team) to a higher level of service than this. We would have to get involved much deeper if the post was not voluntarily removed, but the members typically show their maturity and mutual respect by doing the right thing, as was demonstrated this case.

It is also a lesson in refraining from taking people for granted.  It would have been better to seek permission before posting it, or at least a PM right after posting it.

(b)It would have been better to seek permission before posting it, or at least a PM right after posting it.

i did make mistake (a) and realised and apologised to the person concerned, he didn't even come to know my error, that was the funny part.

i have done (b) too, many a times to Anwar Bhai including to post or not to in the Qatar forum. "When in doubt, there is no doubt-check-recheck" it is a famous aviation quote.

PS
Amit, we all know it was absolutely unintentional from your side
