One of my friends is in need of a RC quad/Hex which can be programmed using Python or Scratch(He is using it to teach programming To Children and to make programming more fun he needs a this).Something like this or anything which can be programmed using Python/Scratch.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1818505613/airblock-the-modular-and-programmable-starter-dron

Of course the Quad or the vehicle should be cheaper than Airblock .
I know that Navio+ and Erle copter but they are also expensive .not to mention there is nothing programmable for a 7th std. children there.
So I will be thankful to anybody giving me sound suggestion.
regards,
Atanu

Actually teaching them how things work is good. But we should restrict the boundaries to our techings even. 7th grade students may not be able to understand much about drone working. Indeed even if you try to teach them it is not likely that they will learn anything programmatically. Instead it is better not to say anything about programming.
People like DJI because of no programming or very less programming and still is market leader.
It would be better if you first teach them building a drone then slowly a ride through its programming would be better.

no way a normal 7th grade student will be able to cope with programming a flight control
for multirotors

try exposing them to simple robotics using pics or avrs - like line following , obctacle avoiding robots.
this will provide the required foundations for more advanced platforms.

that being said - if you are determined to make them jump off the deep end - then look at the
beaglebone black. I think it has the capabilities you are looking for.

I agree that Quadcopters/Drones are very dangerous, especially when the code for the flight has been self programmed and can cause serious injury due to the slightest of mistake in code. Either the quad has to be a supersmall one like the tiny whoop with prop guards etc or the programming should only be done by someone experienced in programming. Don't get discouraged, but this can be an ideal project for high school or college students. There are ARM boards available which can be programmed in micropython.
