Title: Finally a bad precedence
Post by: ujjwaana on September 29, 2011, 02:36:41 PM
Bad news for R/C and AP folks around. This would give yet another opportunity to the authority to curb the hobby further.

We've had this discussion before. There are easier ways to blow stuff up 8-)
( Not that I know many( if not any of them)).

PS: This is after I read Reply#4

Very well said...
Quote from: MCarlton;
By that rationale, they would also ban cars, full size aircraft and feet, since all these things have also been used for terrorist attacks.

"banning" things is just what the extremists want, its an erosion of our ability to live our lives in the way we choose, and thats exactly what they are after.

Nuts to that, we shouldn't be so timid that we let these people dictate our lives, as soon as we start down that road, we may as well give up the game.

Only hope is as mentioned earlier-organise the hobby-keep record of aeromodelers in the area, and become a part of an organised activity ,if required we can at least have one voice to the authorities.

If it gets banned-its worst news for dealers and shops and bad for all of us.

So shun egos and join the common cause.

Reporters are always expert than expert of that special field. Always.

Then Ban Suitcase for Placing Bomb.
BAN CAR for Car bomb.
BAN Courier service/Mail service for mail bomb.
BAN GPS for tracking UAV Missiles.
BAN kite for the same reason.
BAN padestrian movement for bomb placing.

BAN insence stick for making Time bomb.
BAN common Salt for electrolysis of KClO3.
BAN Graphite battery use for the same reason.
BAN Sugar for sugar rocket.
BAN Rubber band (high power) to avoid arrow attack.
BAN wrapping paper for hiding bombs.
BAN alarm/Time clocks to avoid using switch of time bomb.
BAN Iron parts and use wooden parts so that SPLINTERS can be avoided.
BAN threads & Ropes for binding hand bomb.
BAN Battery to avoid initial sparking.

THEN BAN Aeromodel as others are available readily and little knowledge is required to use them. But aeromodeling needs patience and artwork which restricts human to became SATAN.

BAN All Science books and NEWS MEDIA that teaches all this and public all methods only for their popularity. .

and lastly hope for a resistless country where all are blunt. No Engineer, Doctor, Researchers and Scolers. Only MEDIA Personnel to show poverty to foreign Tourist.

The worst thread I have ever seen and should be ERASED.

Already all RC forums are on the first page of google search result if you search for the "T word". I think we should avoid  posting sensitive keywords here, just a suggestion. You know how things in India work, "Out of sight is out of mind". We just have to silently wait for this to pass through.

The above artical is in the main page of my Yahoo mail account. But I liked the balanced and non-panic reply by US expert and congressmen. Nice to see even people in the Capitol Hill fully recognize the Hobby and show now intention of regularizing it, leave even curbing it.

This is in contrast of our idiot security agencies which put a statuary notice on an event of sub par Chinese RC toys cought in 2009, which can't even carry an extra AA Cell and fly. Funny to hear our 'Security Experts' claimed that these Sub :Rs: 3000 toys can carry a payload of 12Kg!!! They should have hit the international R/C contest with planes and win thumbs down in Payload category!

why did it have to happen when i am trying to get my heli out of the customs ?

Blame it to the Murphy's law.... you are not alone...
Be cool and approach the Customs with caution...try to convince them that it no illegal and even NCC and Engineering colleges pursue this discipline .

Certainly Murphy's law in action. It was Bound to Happen sooner or later. I'm just glad he was caught in time, otherwise there would've been a MUCH bigger commotion.

Guys ,
Can ANYBODY ever recall even a single incident where an RC aircraft has EVER been used in a Terror Attack?
Strangely I have never come across any incident whatsoever !
Its only theoretically possible but practically impossible, as has been pointed out in earlier posts its definitely not the method of choice.
If you analyze all the attacks in India none had anything to do with RC
We'll just have to let it blow over , easiest thing for authorities of course is to shut down any constructive activity even with a perceived threat and media hype

Here's a link to a US Newspaper - I hope the authorities take a similar balanced view

Hey guys , is there a police clearance for aeromodelers ?

Title: Re: Finally a bad precedence
Post by: ujjwaana on October 01, 2011, 02:19:36 PM
Dont even try to approach them to give them an idea ... they might as you to get permission from Ministry of Civil Aviation , Ministry of Telecom and even Ministry of Petroleum!! Keep it low, dont make desperate step to fly in risky area which might bring necessary attention(populated/VIP/Army).
Please guide any budding/interested flyers to the local club/group and they would definitely help such noobs. Even if not for compassion, people would definitely guide others so as one lone soldier does not spoil the bean in tea drinking country.

Why the secrecy when the aim of these associations is to further the cause of modelling ,

And why no openness and  transparency in their activities ,is there a inside story ?

did you now understand why there is a secrecy in the clubs...??

Title: Finally a bad precedence : This time in India
Post by: ujjwaana on November 06, 2011, 01:13:01 PM
I posted this news about guy in Boston using R/C for bombing sometime back. Now equally dubious attempt has been reported in Mumbai. Here again, the police claims are like some one trying to shoot down a Plane with Catapult

http://aajtak.intoday.in/videoplay.php/videos/view/67505/2/206/Vaardat-on-aajtak.html

<Video in Hindi, but recreation videos  would surely irritate many people like us>

I have major doubts about the feasibility of the plan:
1. The Toy Coax heli can't even fly with an extra AAA cell battery. Was the bomber planning to use a 'Pen' bomb with plastic explosive like C4?
2. Would the IR based controller work outdoor under the sun ??
3. Can the Heli fly fast as the SUV ??

Whatever the story, it wouls surely put our Hobby under bad lights..

tesť

Shetty made the bomb by removing gunpowder from various firecrackers. The duo then fixed a helicopter motor to the bomb and connected it to a remote. They then decided to test the bomb on the isolated patch in Kalina-Kurla road, but the bomb exploded on Salvi's wheelchair when Shetty pressed the remote by mistake.

Prad mentions about police clearance for aeromodelers,AMA has informed the local DSP/SP regarding our activity in their area, enumerating that it is a regulated activity and safe for public. They in turn keep us informed when not to operate if there is a large public gathering or movement close to the flying field.

Anything and every thing or person can be deployed in a "T" act,for that reason we should be organised and not shy away from police or any other agency be in a position to say we are recognised and organised and safe.

I will try to post a news article where the Air chief has said-Radio controlled aircraft pose no security threat during the Karnal event.

Enjoy aeromodeling!
