RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

With the talk of a microlight and soon full scale academy starting up in town (here in Doha, Qatar), this was a topic of discussion at the RC field last week.  Since we have so many members who are related to the aviation industry (commercial, recreational and military), it seemed prudent to get an idea about the availability and pricing of flight training in India for both microlights and full scale up to PPL.  If it works out cheaper in other places, that would also be good to know (as I heard that places like the Philippines is a preferred destination for PPL and Nepal seems to have a name for microlight instruction).

Awaiting comments.

Assuming you do not want to carry forward to
a CPL (as some Ground school requirements will be different from the beginning)

A PPL in a Cessna 150 or equivalent skycatcher will cost about Rs 8 Lakh

Its not worth much though apart from bragging rights.

Now a days - kit built planes are cheap - why don't all the forum members
pool in an buy ourselves a couple of zenair ch701. We can start our own
flight school. Each aircraft will cost about 15 to 18 lakh

I just heard that someone could not register a kit he bought could not be registered because he did not have PPL.  So PPL seems to be a requirement even with the kit route.

And where is this 8 lakh training available ?  Pretty much any flying club in India ?

Wrong Brothers

I heard of a flying club at Pune around three years back..
In addition, the amount payed for private planes were near to  :Rs:3000-4000/hr.. All you need to have is a Private Pilot Licence.. If you dont have, they will train you and provide.. + insuarance

Things seemed interesting, i searched on net, googled a lot,  but I could find it nowhere..

Information sharing improves knowledge of both.

Sad to inform that, West Bengal was the cheapest pilot training center among India at a time with scholarships. Durba Banarjee have wrote an article in local bengali newspaper before a decade almost. But the Behala flying club have sold to private party and so SAD NEWS.
