Title: Help me understand radio basics Post by: Imperial fire on August 25, 2019, 07:24:23 PM I never gave this a second thought b4 but have now that i am studying remote sensing.
Why are long range systems being called ULTA HIGH FREQUENCY systems.. They are running on say 900Mhz.. But 900Mhz is lower than say 2.4 Ghz that a cheap fly sky radio runs on... Shouldn't it be called low frequency? Coz yes then i can understand why 900 is higher than 70.. But then a second question comes... If lower is better why dont we still use 70MHZ Radios? Am i mixing different concepts..? The 70Mhz tech used crystals ..... wonder if that was an issue handicapping its development.

Its amazing how these things work.. I just joined my course a couple of weeks ago..and wonder why i never thought about a lot of things before.. Btw pankaj...they taught us a little about false colour imagining that you spoke about... Very interesting i must admit.
