Title: How to safely travel with home made custom drones in Indian airlines?
Post by: Akshat.14++ on January 18, 2018, 11:15:23 PM
Hey guys,
I am planning to go to chennai and other places to fly drones and make amazing nature videos of nature and mountains,etc, but I have a serious question like, if we wanna travel with drones like I have 3 mini quadcopters 250 size and a big field quadcopter similar to the size of a Dji Phantom, so if I create a scene like this.. I want to go suppose go to Chennai(home town thats why mentioned couple of times) from Mumbai and I am going with Indigo Airlines, so what documents and licenses will we need to board into the aircraft with these drones as for sure I am not gonna let them go inside the luggage section of the airlines as they might break due to frailness, so I want to take them safely through security checking and go with any hiccups in my path with my drones along lipo batteries and some field tools which are necessary except of those which are prohibited like scissors or hobby knives!! So can someone help me how to go about it and how to safely get through security check with drones, batteries(lipo), transmitter, tools,etc.. I will soon be going to my hometown and I wanna take this all with me and fly over there. Please help someone asap and thank you for all your cooperation.
Thank you,
Akshat Modi

Travel by train? that's more safer its a bit long journey but no security hasssles.

I too was carrying my racing drone all the time from Chennai to pune and back, but used train as I was carrying a lot of lipos

Air travel is Ok if your luggage is low.

Other idea is to pack all the drone and batterys in a good foam box and send by surface using a good courier to ur Chennai address.

and then you can go by air

I was doing the later part.  Didn't want to get into security problems at the airport.

On one flight I had my tool box in my hand bag luggage and was not allowed to board and had to put my baggage in luggage and paid 400rs

for no reason.

since then I prefer to use courier service and use flight only for self.

as I had office in Chennai it would come in 4-5 days by surface. ( ALso pls mention surface only)
