Title: how to start fireworks on an rc airplane
Post by: Imperial fire on April 28, 2018, 01:11:34 PM
so a long time ago in class 10 i made an amphibious vehicle which could fire upto 3 rockets ( crackers) i used a servo style mechanism to expose the rocket to a constantly burning flame...

i now want to do it on an airplane...obviously its difficult and risky to have a fire burning on an airplane..

is there like a fuse or switch that maybe heats a wire and will allow for remotely controlled rockets...
is it locally available...
i i must make one. a really small one. can i power it off my rx? the way a servo is powered?

i have seen some one time fuse being sold on h.k but its not fun... i want a more robust reusable soln...

what do i start with...?
one thing i have in mind is using a servo to control  a cigarette lighter...and then take it from there...but again it involves staring a fire in a wind....cant get my head around it......
if something is available on a lhs please direct me to it..
regards.

I had the same idea few months ago. And there are some problems. If you want to launch a rocket vertically when an airplane is flying, the rocket will push down the flying plane stressing the wing and may make it unstable. //newton's 3rd law//
If you launch the rocket horizontally forward, it may induce stall and and is unguided crazy missile.
So, the size of plane and rocket must be considered.
What if the rocket bursts instead of flying away? You will lose your plane.

I guess a red hot wire (which you can easily make from nichrome and battery)  is enough for the fuse to burn.
Anyhow, I will not try this idea and advice aganist it. All the best. Post photos if you try.

The main problem here aint the fuse. We can use the reciever's 4.8-6 volts ( depends) to heat a very thin wire. It can cause the rocket to launch. But the problem is, The reiciever always transmits power through its channels. So , its a death wish( injurious) To connect a fuse directly to the reciever as when you turn the reciever on, the fuse ignites. You can try making some kind of switch for the fuse.

You can do this  with quadcopter

@ taksh i dont have a quad so its out of pic...
I want it to fire rockets like a missile from an airplane..will be a  decently large airplane like the sky surfer...
As of now i am just in like planning stage...once my exams get over in june will try it..and share pics.

@al i  completely forgot.. yes the rx continuously  sends power..ill have to make a switch of some sort...
I think ill modify a rx controlled 12 volt light ..and figure something....
Lets see. Should be fun

50 years or so ago, we would create dethermalizer fuses by using a bit of aggarbatti. I think you can manage something similar

As Iyer sir might have been doing it before I was born (   ;) :giggle: ) he is the right guide
