Title: Indian Customs
Post by: jacsonfpv on September 19, 2020, 09:38:06 AM
So my TBS crossfire tx lite and few parts got seized by Indian Customs.. I am really disappointed😔😔 , I was planning to kick start my fpv hobby but now I realized this country hates drones...250 dollars down the drain.. I never knew drone parts would be taken away.. I suggest my fellow rc enthusiasts to never import and find local dealers and pay that extra money.. Please share your thoughts...

The Import Laws are pretty clear, well documented and easy to understand

This is your first post here - if you had bothered to check here before importing you would have known better

Customs people are not at fault - you were trying to do something in transgression o the Law, and got caught!

Yes.. I should have done more research.. I have learned my lesson... Just disappointed that the law has to be like this here..

Well legally, the crossfire frequency comes under licensed category, you need valid license like HAM Radio License and ETA approval to use that kind of equipment but still you can use it, if u know what I mean. By the way which online store did you shopped from? And what was the shipping method means is it DHL or what? Just curious..... Better to know, these kind of things, importing rc gear.......

Purchased from TBS official store.. Shipped from Hong Kong through DHL e-commerce.  I wanted that product so bad.. Now money gone and no product   ??? ??? And there was also an ethix tool kit along inside the package... I don't think they will be willing to release that even if I request.. what a start to my fpv journey  ;D.... Not giving up.. I will be flying soon....

Customs will send you 2-3 official notices very soon for importing banned product.
Can't say when bcoz many people got letters after 2-3 years of their import.
In the end they will demand a heavy fine and the product will be confiscated.

Thanks for the information.....
But after the package got seized by customs, do you have the option to return the package to the seller for refund or not? Or is it fully gone now....
I was also looking to import few rc gear items from getfpv.com but I am afraid that customs won't allow to import and even if they did then I may have to pay hefty charges over it.
Here is the link for importing WPC approved rc gear and many more items..... Anyone can import these products, only thing is that customs may ask you about the ETA approval and you can show these documents.
https://saralsanchar.gov.in/wpc_eta_report.php
I got this link from this forum only. The list have entries of 2.4ghz radios like frsky, jumper, etc but not the long range rc systems.

Unfortunately tbs didn't accept my return request.. Also need to pay penalty and shipping charges.. And now every thing is available in rcmumbai .. It's better to order locally.. I will never import drone related products... I lost around 18k

You know what this happened to me I bought a cheap drone for which I got a letter from customs.., After a handwritten reply from me to them requesting them I got my drone. This happened again for my flysky tx rx they didn't catch it, I think because it was not from some expensive private shipping but from the ordinary post... The same happened with my friend but then he had to pay 3k custom charges.

We all would have imported drone/drone parts and got lucky some times and some times not.
Irrespective of that, it’s best not to mention it here. So that, it does not give hope to others to try.

If available, pay higher and get local.
If not, at current circumstances don’t try ordering from abroad.
