Good Jatayu, tell us something about the type of refuelling.

Well MARS was meant to be "Mid Air Refueling System"  Currently 2 types of Pods are involved one called the Flying boom and other is the Probe-drogue system.

My dad worked in IL-76 as a weapon fitter and electrician, uncle is still with An-32's

have heard about this academy, after 2 unsuccessful attempt at SSB i took my coaching from

That was my childhood dream too. I had cleared my SSB, PABT, and medicals for Airforce in 1992 and had my name in merit list of Airforce and Naval Aviation, however since coming from a non service background, had to give in to my dad's whim that I should have my feet on mother earth all the time and had to opt for Army only.  Cry

May be some day Param fulfills his dream in Airforce.  Clap

I have been asking one of the 'youngest' flyer of our field (class 8th ) to aim for IAF right from now. Govt is already getting new Gripen/Typhoon for them....

on the side note.... Gusty sir, i have seen truck flying off  due to the turbine swash of such large transport planes. Isn't it too turbulent for bringing small jet so close, let alone precise aligning with the boom ?

Great!!!

I am also preparing for CDSE which is next month (12th Fab). It is aviation that flows in my nerves. And I can't resist. I was also offered 4yr Aeronautical engineering degree coarse in 2008 by IIAEIT(Indian Institute of aeronautical engg and Information technology) Pune. The problem that time was my parents were not able to afford tuition fees. Only mom being my guardian, applying for Education loan was too much trouble those days atleast in MP.

Now at this point of my life, I can't miss a single chance to get in aviation and serve country.

Gusty sir! I have a little question. How one can prepare for SSB without going coaching classes. My two friends are forcing me to join a tutorial for this. But the problem is same, "$$$".

Don't misunderstand me, I don't intend to give a wrong impression here. But as we all talk in same language, ie; RC and share experiences here. I am comfortable enough to ask for guidance from the seniors.

Please tell us the tips to get prepared for SSB at home.

Thanks.

IMHO, you should not be taking coaching classes for clearing SSB. Like what krish had said books are available for it and they are good enough to know what to expect apart from that you should be acting just what you are.

In SSB they are looking for a confident, optimistic team player who has a fair amount of IQ and good OLQ ( Officer Like Qualities). If you have it in U, you will automatically get selected like a breeze. If you don't have it in you then there is not point  getting selected because then the rest of the tenure in service is going to be a **** hole for you because you are not made for it.

Faking it after going through some coaching class is last thing you should do if you really need to do some good for yourself. You would really do well in some other profession than in Services.

Those days there were no coaching classes for it. Dad got me CSR booklet he came across during his one of tours which gave me idea of what to expect. I had to fall back to the only forces guy I knew those days that was Army Officer from 2 TN Armd NCC supporting our college . He was very helpfull. What guidance he offered me was at second para above.

ONE QUESTION ... are computer engineers allowed in IAF  ?.....if yes there is still a silver lining else agalay janam may dekhengay  Bang Head

Future is really bright for the guys Joining now, they will get to fly the State of the Art Fighter, Transport and Helis. The closest i fly to a modern fighter is M2K, which is still 80s Tech.

on the side note.... Gusty sir, i have seen truck flying off  due to the turbine swash of such large transport planes. Isn't it too turbulent for bringing small jet so close, let alone precise aligning with the boom ?
It is turbulent and it is not easy, however, practice and skill matters, as regards jet wake , you both are traveling at the same speed and you are connecting from below. the wake is above you. see this video this is called the whiplash
