Hello guys I'm new to rc and flying and need help.
I'm making a quadcopter with the following specs :
Battery- lipo: 3 cell 2200 mah 20-25c (MFG by Sunrobotics)
ESCs-30a (simonk)
Motors-1800kv
Propellers-10*4.5
Flight control board- kk 2.1.5
Power distribution - own made parallel harness
Frame- home-made (wood) and properly balanced
Skids- high launching DJI Phantom skids
Radio control system - Flysky CT6B 2.4 GHz
Everytime i test a flight.... One or two ESCs blow up after 2-3 minutes of flight time. I can't understand where the problem is. But i think my ESCs and motor and propeller combination isn't good. So what to do now? Whether change the ESCs to more powerful ones (40a or above) or just use smaller propellers. I have spent all my savings on this but got this resultThis is my first drown, so not installed GPS modules and camera gimbals.

Your motor ESC combination might be fine.... But the motor propeller combination is not at all good bro...

Thanks for your help. But how to check the watts drawn by the motors from the lipo(11.1v) when propellers are attached ?? Actually I'm very new to this world.

What is the size of your motor? Moreover it is not recommended to drive such huge propeller at high speeds as it may draw huge current and run at low speed.
Can you post picture of your ESC and also mention its brand.

Look for esc's continuous current capacity.Then look for the current draw from motor prop sheet on manufacturers website.I am guessing the current draw with the motor prop combination is more than what you esc can sustain.and it would be better for diagnosis if you provided esc,motor manufacturers name

Motor size? Are talking about it dimensions?
All i know is it's  1800kv and the battery is 11.1v

Bro try to use small propeller. 7 or 8inch it ll be fine...
But the efficiency ll be less which means lesser flight time...

Change to 1000kv motor... My advice is buy some good motors...

They will last long than these motors

What do you mean by 'Esc blows up'?
Please post a photo. (Of Esc as well as motor)

Here is a simple way to understand the issue:
Think of 3 strings, A, B, and C, with A knotted to B and B knotted to C.
Tie a weight of say 1kg to the free end of C, and lift it by holding the free end of A.
As you increase the weight, at some stage the weakest of the three strings will break.

Think of A as your lipo, B as your ESC, C as your motor, and the weight as your prop.

1. Your 2200mah (or 2.2Ah) lipo is rated as 20-25c. The max rating is usually for 60seconds max.
So your lipo is rated to be able to give 44amps continuous, or 55amps for max 60 seconds.
That is in theory. In practice it may actually be capable of only about 22amps continuous, or 27-28amps in short bursts.

2. Your ESC is rated for max 30amps. At this rate it may overheat quickly. In practice it may be capable of only about 20amps continuous.

3. Every motor has 3 limitations
a. Max voltage, usually listed as 2s, 3s etc, meaning 2 or 3 cell lipo, or 8.4v / 12.6v etc. The motor will overheat and burn at higher voltages
b. Max current, like 10amps, 15amps etc
c. Wattage, ie, max volts x max amps

4. Max volts depends on the supply, ie, whether you are using 2s or 3s lipo

5. Max current depends on the demand, or in other words, the load.

6. The load depends on the size of the prop

7. If the load, and hence the current drawn (amps), exceeds the capacity of any one of the three links, ie, lipo, ESC, motor, that link will fail.

Or, as you say, blow up!

In your case, it seems the current drawn is more than your ESC can cope with.

Members of the forum will be able to recommend suitable prop size, if they know more about your motors.

Try to post the following motor details:
1. Brand name and any info on stickers on the motor
2. Weight of the motor
3. Diameter of the motor
4. Length of motor from backplate to where the shaft emerges from the motor.

The answer was obvious as soon as i saw the sticker on the motor!

I couldn't find data for your A2212/7T 1840kv model, but here is some data (from Dr Kiwi's tests) for two similar motors:

1. A2212/10T 1400kv
On 3s lipo, max power 170watts at 16amps. 11000 rpm. Thrust over 800gms
Using APC E 8x4 prop

2. A2212/6T 2400kv
On 3s lipo, max power 235watts at 22amps. 20000 rpm. Thrust 430gms
Using APC E 5x5 prop

Your motor must be somewhere between these two.
Probably needs a prop in 6x4 to 7x4 range.
The 10x4.5 prop you are using is causing a 100% or more overload. I'm surprised that your motor didn't burn!

Oh....then my motors were about to burn. Thnk god I'm saved.
According to the above data... It seems like my motors, with around 6 inch prop.s could provide a thrust of around 600 grams only in maximum, which cant lift my quad properly. Even if my quad flies, i cant take it much higher. Bcoz i read in some other forums that we should keep our quad's weight below half of its maximum thrust. Now if the concept is correct and my motors altogether produce a thrust of nearly 2500 grams only, then it can nearly lift my quad, as my quad's total weight is around a 1000 grams with skids.
Am i right with my concept?
If yes, then what should i choose for in such a critical financial crisis :
1. Buy a set of small 6-7 inch props
           Or
2. Buy set of 900-1000 kv motors

If the latter (buying a new set of motors) is perfect, then i would love selling my set of 4 1800kv motors. Anyone if interested plz inform ASAP.

My ST360 (from Quadkopters) has ST2210 1050kv motors and 8x4.5 props.
This motor prop combo is supposed to give max thrust of 650gms each on 3s.
Weighs 640gms+180gms 3s 2200mah lipo. Total 820gms.
Hover requires only 800-850gms thrust.

Hovers easily at about half throttle...

Then which size of propellers suits the best for 1000kv motors?

keeping the motor size same as you have already the props you already have i.e 10×4.5 will be most suited.
