Title: Need opinion on avionic motors.
Post by: Imperial fire on February 18, 2017, 09:44:19 AM
I saw some motors on rc bazaar for 1500 providing up to 2kg of thrust.
Are avionic motors any good?
Shud they be bought or shud one lean towards emax flighline etc
Or are they cheap Chinese motors given a rebrand.

How are the bearings? Do they heat up too much.?
Do they provide the claimed thrust at given power??
Anyone used em??

I've used many, they are good

If you want better, go for AXI or Scorpion

Hi, you can go with motor combination with esc and prop which gives nearly 1200gm to 1400gm thrust to your plane weighing 900gm. In this thrust is to weight ratio you get nearly 1.33 to 1.56 t/w ratio, this ratio is good for trainer. There are many combination in avionic giving this thrust, you have to choose good motor combination according to your plane And now there are new motor available in rcb giving this thrust.

These are some new motors available in rcb with combination having thrust nearly 1200 to 1400 gm.
Avionic pro c 3536 kv 1500
Avionic pro c 3536 kv 1050
Avionic pro c 5045 kv 900
Hope this helps, if wrong correct me.

Sir,
Could you kindly share the basis on which you have given this advice (1.33-1.56 t/w as good for trainers)?
If what you say is true, I'll have to unlearn everything I learnt about model airplanes...
Regards.

sir, in this post it states that.
Long accepted thumb rules, and personal experience (supporting data available) indicate that:
1. A trainer type model needs only 30-35% thrust to weight ratio to maintain level flight
2. 50% thrust to weight is enough for safe take off and climb out
3. 100% thrust to weight is enough for most aerobatics
4. 150% thrust to weight will give unlimited vertical
5. More than that may be required for 3D, but I have (so far) no experience to comment from
If the model is 900 gm and if the motor gives 1200 gm thrust
1200/900 = 1 : 1.33  ratio
so, I suggested using above thumb rules.

@abhilash9797,
I'm a tamilian, but in Hindi there is a saying:
'Meri hi billi, mujhi ko myaun'
Ie, my own cat meowing at me!

You are quoting my own post!

Without noticing point 1,2,3

1. A trainer type model needs only 30-35% thrust to weight ratio to maintain level flight
2. 50% thrust to weight is enough for safe take off and climb out
3. 100% thrust to weight is enough for most aerobatics
4. 150% thrust to weight will give unlimited vertical
5. More than that may be required for 3D, but I have (so far) no experience

Abhilash,
I see that on one hand you are asking for advice, and on the other hand you are dispensing gyan
So I'm not sure how to respond to your queries...
