Hey!

To plane and heli users alike. Has anyone tried a 'Trailing-arm suspension' with a quad or any kind of multirotor in order to reduce or nullify the ground effect? If so, what were it's success rates?

thanks  Hats Off

The idea is good , but if the system was inverted with the spring in the front , the plane wouldn't toss down.

I was talking about implementing it in a multirotor. There's something called 'ground effect' during take off and landing, due to which, the copter turns upside down and falls. So, I figured it might be a solution to the problem.

Hence, before buying the shocks and trying it myself, just wanted some opinion of our members, and about their experiences.

As long as it is light weight, you can pretty much use it on anything. And , what is the reason behind ground effect? Is it the air?

"GE for any aircraft is caused by the increase in air pressure as the aircraft is flying close to the ground. This increased air pressure is caused by the air being pushed downwards by wings or rotors. Since the aircraft is close to the ground, the downward rush of air has no place to go, so air pressure builds under the aircraft.

This high pressure area under the wing or rotor blades causes an interesting decrease in overall drag with an increase in total lift from the wing or rotor. To keep things simple, we will just look at GE as a bubble of high air pressure under our RC helicopter."

Well that's what Ground Effect or GE is.
