I am a beginner in rc planes. I am building a plane (airbus a320 model) which will weigh approximately 2-3 kg. What is the thrust i will require to fly it properly ??

At least 1.5 kg if 2kg plane...
But being a beginner you must not build it dont try you will mess up badly try theft alpha....
I say again beginners should not make 2 kg plane...
And the motor with that thrust will cost a lot...
Build flite test's ft alpha...
If you don't know about flite test search on YouTube and see it's beginners series if you haven't....

If the plane weighs 2kg and thrust is 1.5 kg then how can the plane fly ? For this get a low kv motor swinging a big prop.

Even if thrust is half the weight a plane can fly..
When both are equal then vertical takeoff..

I can comfortably take-off, fly and land a model weighing 2 kg with a power unit producing 1.2 Kg thrust

Just go back to basics - lift is not the same as thrust. If you want to climb vertically, only then thrust > weight

That said, do not underpower! Always safer to have thrust:weight around 1 for trainers, 1:1.2~1.5 for sports models, and 1> 2 for 3D models
