Considering the fact that it is a zero wind environment, it is remarkable. (Well, they are creating little bit of wind, but how little !).

More videos, with obstacle courses and everything !

Actually this takes a lot to do - its called microfilm - the material that is formed to build these planes - check this micro surgery on how to make these planes http://www.indoorduration.com/BuildingF1D.htm :o

Exactly my thoughts tg! we rely on motors, esc, servos, txs, rxs, batteries and what not for our 15mins of fame and here are people using an 1g airframe wrapped in film and a rubberband swinging a 20inch prop and going on flying times of over 50mins jus to qualify........... reminds me of the aeromodelling of the earlier years when instead of being flown by rc, models were precision engineered to take off, perform a maneuver and land unassisted.

That is truly an eye-opener  :salute:  :salute:   Thanks TG.

Wonder if it is even worth for anyone to attempt something like this using more accessible material like cling-wrap !  :headscratch:

If you have access to Nitrate dope, you can make the film yourself. The dope is spread over water surface and allowed to cure. You can lift the layer cut it to shape and attach to your airframe with a lick of dope.

Is there any history of this kind of building in India ? People making and flying these successfully ?

Couldn't find online references (possibly because this was more common before Internet and online information became widespread).

There were a lot of activity in the micro scene among electric fliers in Bangalore 4-5 years back. Uttam (of mighty midget motors) have been into these big time. I haven't been in touch for a long time now, so no recent news.

I am now trying to learn turning with my homemade lightweight without prop models. Till Unsuccessful for closed  space. Will try it in new location with plenty of space.

F1D s in progress but I have no microfilm less than 20 micron.

You can see the build Log here.

Will clingwrap work?
