Hi everyone,

Last month I bought, sight unseen, an old Piper Cub kit, from a fellow member.

Really ragged, with the plan faded and in tatters, and having been warned that there were only balsa pieces, no accessories etc.

But who can resist a Piper Cub kit, whether complete or not?

Here are some pics of the kit and the plan being resuscitated with laminating film.

(My own Golberg Anniversary Piper Cub kit is still in pristine condition in its box, awaiting an auspicious date to get built. For the last 27 years!)

Don't wake a Tiger until you've factored the teeth

Indeed!  I agree

Which manufacturer? Can't make out clearly but looks something like "Airships and Controls?)

Right!
Never heard of them before.
Seller said he got it from India’s Hobby Centre.

Took out all the curved parts.
Found huge chucks of wood for the wing tips. FOUR wing tips?
And since they are an inch thick, they’ll need to be sawn in half. EIGHT wing tips?
59 precut ribs. Only 30 needed, so enough for TWO wings!
But over half of the stab outline parts are missing.

The quality of the wood and cutting is pretty bad. And some pieces seemed to have harboured termites...
Will replace those that I spot. But wonder if the whole airframe would benefit from some anti termite spray.

Looks like a puzzle with some missing parts and some extra parts, just to make it more, er, puzzling.
Maybe it was the packer’s first day on the job.

"But wonder if the whole airframe would benefit from some anti termite spray."  Don't. Will form a barrier and hamper gluing

Just keep out in the sun (although the news says you guys in Indore haven't seen the sun since long  Wink Smiley )
