Title: Reviving the NexSTAR .46 as an Affordable Kit - Seeking Plans & Gauging Interest
Post by: harsh on January 11, 2024, 05:24:55 PM
Hello RC Airplane Enthusiasts,

I'm reaching out to this community with a special project in mind, and I need your help and input.

1. Seeking Plans or Detailed Images for NexSTAR .46:
As many of you might know, the NexSTAR .46, a beloved model in the RC airplane world, is no longer in production. This makes it quite challenging to find detailed plans or high-quality images. I'm on a quest to find either side, top, and front view plans or clear, detailed photographs of the NexSTAR .46. If anyone has these resources or knows where I might find them, please share. Even if sketches are not available, high-quality pictures would be immensely helpful, especially since the ones available online don't capture the details needed for this project.

2. Proposal: Bringing Back NexSTAR .46 as an Affordable Laser Cut Kit:
Given the NexSTAR .46's popularity and its current unavailability, I'm proposing to bring this model back to life as an affordable laser-cut kit. This would not only preserve the legacy of the NexSTAR .46 but also provide enthusiasts with the opportunity to build and enjoy this model once again. Before I proceed, I want to gauge interest within the community. Would you be interested in purchasing a laser-cut kit of the NexSTAR .46? The goal is to make it accessible and enjoyable for both experienced builders and newcomers to the hobby.

Your Support and Feedback:
Your feedback, interest in the kit, and any leads on obtaining plans or detailed images are crucial for this project. I believe that together, we can revive a piece of RC history and make it available for current and future generations of hobbyists.

No longer in production?

It’s available as an RTF with OS 46, Futaba radio, stabilisation etc.

Making it here commercially may attract copyright action.
Happened to a member here.
He then switched to developing and producing his own design, now being sold by US hobby shops!

Best wishes for your endeavour, but how many customers do you expect?

Regards
Iyer

Oh that's wonderful, can you point me to that direction?
I am returning to the hobby, and seems like a lot of companies have shut shop including hobbico, greatplanes, thundertiger etc.
I dont expect a lot of customers to be honest, and was thinking of doing it just because I loved building from kits, and at the time those came quite cheap if you knew some rc vetrans. Right now a lot of shops in India dont have those ARFs and the ones they have are quite expensive.

It was one of the best flying trainers.. I flew this plane many years ago, but plans might not be available as it was a ARF plane.
