Title: same weight but different motor?
Post by: Mehul Anand on June 07, 2018, 10:25:20 AM
So, i made the ft flyer it weighed 250 gm, the motor required was a 2208 motor but for ft alpha the same weight(i am making) a 2205 motor??
How?? ???

I did not quite understand.
You did not mention the kv.
If i am correct, you mean to ask that "why don't the planes require the same motor since they have the same weight?"
well, each plane has a different flying character or feel to it. A jet will need to go fast and roar while the trainer will need to go slowly but steadily. The air frame weight can be the same but the type of aircraft determines the motor. A jet will need a motor on the higher kv side and vice-versa.

So does it mean a 1000 kv wont work on alpha??

No. It wont.
You need a 2200kv-ish motor for alpha

@Mehul Anand
It is better to understand physics first. Learn about angle of attack rudder elevator and other things.

Perhaps you haven’t flown the FT Flyer yet, and are waiting to buy a motor that will suit it as well as your second model FT Alpha?

In your other thread you mentioned a 2212 of 2200-2300kv, but not a 2208 or 2205...

No it flew its just that I am using coro sheet and I heard that it is heavier than foam board.. And overpowering a plane is not a thing, I learnt this from chad at flite test..

@Mehul Anand
If you don't have depron and foam sheets for plane then go for avispad. Many people suggested me to build avispad but problem is of motor size. Avispad build is of coro sheet.

@ taksh
He will have to buy a new motor for that.
There will be added expense of ESC and batteries.
Why not suggest something that utilises his present motor?

@prabal276
you are right but rc things can be used in future there is no loss of rc things.
I bought low voltage alarm and purchased battery after few months So, all depends on money.
If Mehul can get depron or other foam sheet then it is good but it is hard to get depron.
Mehul said "He is using coro sheet". I don't know about many plane design but there is many mini coro plane design available on net.
You can suggest him a better plane design as you are an experienced person.

@Mehul Anand
You can use High density thermocol to make rc plane with same motor but you need to search for thermmocol plane design.
It is better to purchase depron but last option is other types of foam sheets or high density theromocol sheet.

@taksh,
Would be nice to hear of your personal experience in areas where you offer advice to others...

Seconded

One of the pitfalls of using the forum is you get "expert advice" from members who themselves know nothing

The safest bet for your buck (and time as well) will be to "visit a Local flying Field" and see what other experienced modellers suggest you as the building material and the gear for the same.
Maybe they could even help with the airframe choice as well (as FT Alpha ain't a good one).
