Title: Seen RC GROUPS?
Post by: K K Iyer on August 13, 2018, 11:34:29 PM
I have a sneaking feeling that many RCI members, especially older members, are already members of RC Groups.

Others may look at RC Groups, and think of ways to raise the standard of our own forum...

Personally,
Rci lacks dedicated product threads
For eg. A thread for a particular model of transmitter like rcb6i , basically a place where people can share their experiences , findings and mods they have found useful
You can take a look at the threads for fatshark goggles or dragonlink uhf to get an idea.

I had wished our members would look at the range of topics discussed on RCG (not just products)

I feel RCI is a super vast ocean of knowledge on the flying hobby !

Hello Sir,

If you look at the total member count RCGroups has "731687" and RCIndia has "19753" as of today.

RCGroups is global platform where as RCI is confined to India only.

I think, more the members more will be input.

To increase the standard of this forum we should

1) Invite people to join this forum who are already into this hobby and don't know about this forum (+ newcomers)
2) There should be dedicated threads/topics like "Coro build tips", "Cheap Local Material Available for Planes" (people should contribute their experience)
3) Many newcomers are interested in building and flying on their own - we need more "scratch-built" threads (along with minute details) (I will contribute soon)
4) Multirotor guys should contribute more
5) Annual competitions
6) Try to comment as much as possible (but one should not make meaningless statements)
7) Strict Ban - who doesn't follow the guidelines of the forum and/or doesn't respect others
8 ) Don't fight, don't hate others
9) Many threads are dormant which should be updated regularly
10) Share as much as you have learned
11) Some people have language issue, there should be a thread in Hindi for easy understanding.

Actually I believe the issue is with RC "in" India and not rcindia.
I personally tried to raise interest of many of my friends in this hobby.
But lack of flying fields, RTF models and fear of legal actions by authority drove most of them away.
One even faced some harassment carrying his sky surfer in his car. That's it... after that every one fled.

That's true!

Very true sir, I wish people would leave me alone, every morning I go out to fly. The same questions like does it have a battery, how high will it fly, how much it costs ..... , they can buy a mobile costing 12k to 20k, but cannot spend even a minimum 5k for a hobby  .

Flying planes is ok, but flying helis requires more concentration, and their questions really distract. They also take my phone number just for nothing, they never call.

Actually the casual spectators never created any problems for us. We kind of enjoyed the attention mainly the new comers. Issue started to rise when one of the flier's car got stopped by police in a road block and the sky surfer was found.

Never seen him on the field after that. Others gradually left.

I don't think that RCI is a bad forum at all. The main problem is that most of the members won't participate in the forum even though they have a good amount of knowledge. One another thing is that, The RC forums like RCGroups are actually sponsored by Hobbyking while RCI is a non profit member controlled forum.
