Title: very lucky FPV quadcopter. CRASH ...
Post by: MKARTIKGANDHI on August 08, 2015, 09:53:05 PM
Woooooow. ..very close call for a 20000 rs damage and not to mention someone getting hurt with a 1KG bomb bropping from a hight of 40-50 meters...But very very lucky ....  :banghead:

This evening I took MY 360 quad for an areal photography near a swimming pool and a park...
never thought that at the end of MY day .. MY shirt was going to be all wet ...

Very usual day I connected MY quad ..2.4 ghz radio 5.8 ghz fpv with osd everything was perfect ....  I started flying but I soon as I get 50 meters away I felt that signal is lost Right above the swimming pool ..took few seconds to realize that yes I did lost MY connection with quad ... whole flight was about 3-4 minutes of which hardly 20-30 seconds was controlled by me rest of the time quad flew all by itself ...  it was very terrifing experice for me specially never had this kind of experience with quad

When I first noticed signal loss I was about 40-50 meter in hight within 100 meter radius after that quad. Climbed to a maximum hight of 130 meter and slowly going away from me coz of the wind It was flying behind me above trees ...I was completely helpless I could do nothing but watch the video received ON MY goggles ... after 130 meters it started lossing hight At this point I took off MY goggles to see were the quad is actually flying I was Just a dot in the Sky .. then again I put MY goggles back On meanwhile out of fear I Pushed throtle stick Up and all the way down 2-3 times nothing seemed to be working at a hight of 40-50 meters it dropped suddenly to ground at the same time loss video Free too ...

Now what I was in panic mode
The kids who were playing nearby told me that it fell down in that direction .. .. and thank god ON the way down it fell ON a tree and got stuck ON the last branch of the tree not to far from ground ... and lucky me no damage done to frame Just a video Line was broken between Camera and video tx ...
All other things are ok

My guess of the causes
1 while binding the receiver I power ON received first then the transmitter which has a 2 watt booster ON it (is there a received binding sequence) I don't know let me know

2 MY receiver antenna is shorter then regular because of few crashes I had but again with same receiver I did half KM flight too I fly with flysky th9x

3 when I found the quad recever antenna was broken I don't know if it cut off during flight coz of propeller or because of crash ON a tere

4. I do use failsafe I set theottle failsafe to 30% but MY guess is it kikcked in the very last 15-20 sec of the flight don't know why and how and before that it Just climbed Up regardless of the stick position or failsafe settings

please leave your suggestions ....  :help:

I am glad that nobody got hurt and also quad is safe
Going to replace the receiver antenna immediatly.

Very lucky. Looks like rc link glitch. Have you got any clue?

No I havnt got a clue

And guess what today same thing happened again
Even after replacing the antenna with a new one ....
I replaced original flysky antenna with a new 40 cm frysky antenna .... and I am very much shoked again same glitch. What is actually happening is it is responding out of sync ...  after giving a stick I have to wait 4-5 sec to see that response ON quad somwhow I did managed to Land it ON a grass field nearby but not happy with it. is this a normal behaviour of flysky ... nerver seen something like this ON 2.4 ghz radio ..my 2 watt power booster is also in working  condition. this time few things were different

1 It happened after acrossing 400 meter distance ...and at a hight of 40 meters

2 I placed the receiver box right below the power distribution board? ?? I don't. Know if that is the right place to put the receiver

Please give some suggestions ... what to do

Is rebinding the receiver to transmitter is necessary after antenna replacment .....   Help me out here

have you tried any other 2.4GHZ radio link? you will easily get 700-800 meters without booster. sometimes complicayed systems put things in trouble.

I did a 1250 meter flight with same radio with booster and 5.8 ghz fpv
No problem there buy yes this flight was outside City limits

I think I figured out reason of first crash
Soldering of antenna to receiver was done poorly it was a second hand receiver both inner and outer wires were soldered to the same point maybe that's why it has a poor signal reception

But still yesterdays crash is totally out of place

ON this antenna I am using a frsky 40 cm antenna although receiver is flysky .....CAN it be the cause of radio link problem
Length of antenna CAN be a factor? ?? Don't know

is that with APM/Pixhawk ? then get the flight log. not only radio, even a faulty ESC can do this kind of maneuvers ;)

Get yourself a frsky module or if you want long range then ezuhf.

Yes that a GOOD IDEA
But in frsky module what is the meaning of
DJT.  ...DHY and DFT
which one should I buy

I guess frsky protocol is more robust then flysky

I think think I got some serious problem with MY flysky th9x .... after Flying more them 150 meters now signal problem is felt it gives glitches don't know what to do
Whithin 100 meter everything works very GOOD but after thet it gives delayed reaponse or glitches ...I am using 2W booster ..with 5.8 ghz fpv

Please if anyone knows what to do read the thread and give me some suggestion

Kartik, first try to remove the 2w booster and test the signal with the module only. If there is no such issues, problem is with the booster module. If problem still exists then as suggested by Nitesh above, get a frsky module and check. Also try to change the location, sometimes unwanted interference may cause these kind of glitches. I once crashed a quad flying near a high tension electric supply line!
