Where can I find 5 min epoxy glue in India? Please advice.

Almost all hardware shops sell it.

ask for FEVTIDE 5 min epoxy resin manufactured by Pidilite... available for Rs 20 for 7.5gms tubes

also look for Araldite CLEAR. same price... but fevtide is better.

In some other threads, FEVITITE was suggested.  Not sure how different it is from FEVTIDE recommended by Saurabh (or it could just be a spelling error).

I personally tried fevitite, araldite klear, and some other local brand(blue colour package), and found that Fevitite was the best. DO NOT buy anything other than fevitite. Comes in red colour package.

Some Hints: Take 1 minute for mixing. Mix it fast. and apply it within the 2nd minute, dont wait for the 3rd minute, after 3.5 mins its already setting and not a good time to apply. Mixing in the EXACT equal amount is the secret.

EDIT: Araldite klear and fevitite are foam safe.

for Balsa to balsa joint, u can use fevikwik. Just add a pinch of baking soda after applying CA. It will bond instantly.

Wembleys Quickfix is still the best glue for Balsa to Balsa.

CA or epoxy, depends on which joint is being bonded. Not all bonds are meant to be just CA'ed and you don't need epoxy for all joints either. Rather than what glue for balsa to balsa would request the builders here to say what they use for different joints in an airframe. For small balsa gliders, CA should be sufficient. No?? Virtually all epoxy glues provide the same strength of bond and there is little chance of testing the bond without trashing the balsa in the process.

Beg to differ Sir. No conflict. We, the old timers were used to building Balsa Kits from Hobby Centre using NC Tradfix. This was almost identical to Quickfix, which was readily available way back in the 70's and 80's. So if you didn't fancy a bus ride to IHC, you ran to the neighbourhood stationer and got yourself some Quickfix.

Suddenly Quickfix disappeared from the market in the mid 90's. Now it is making a comeback. During this hiatus, modellers have found alternates which do the job just as well, if not better (in their opinion).

Of course there are different glues, and their purposes are different in many cases.  For pure strength, people like Mike (who has been building big balsa planes for ages) vouch that PVA is the strongest. I remember his explaining how it gets into the grains of the wood, making it the best choice for places like the landing gear mount.

For example, while gluing a dihedral joint - First the parts are aligned on the workbench and a thin layer of CA is allowed to seep into the gap. Once this settles and hardens, Quickfix (epoxy) can be used to strengthen the joint on the Dorsal and Ventral joint surfaces. Once this hardens (overnight), the joint can be sanded with 220 grade paper for a smooth finish. Rather good gap filler too!

Some points to be noted here:

A. In the example quoted above, I am talking about a good old fashioned Chuckie or Catapult
    glider.
B. In those days, we had never imagined something like CA. Had it been around, I bet we   
    would've used it!
C. PVA was around (Fevicol) but compared to Quickfix, it took ages to set! :banghead:
D. There are different strokes for different folks. You shouldn't use CA only for a landing gear 
    mount and PVA/Epoxy is not a very good idea for field repairs! :giggle:

Epoxy for foams? Definitely! Fevibond, Araldite and Araldite Rapid, Fevitite are good examples.

For Foam Safe CA, visit the Hobbyking website, you will find what you are looking for. Evotite is the brand name. Sometimes Mr. Sai of rcforallin stocks it. Shoot him a PM, his service is superfast!

+1 VC.  I have been using epoxy on foamies for a long time. Beware of using limited quantities though, they can add some weight to the models if used in abundance.

the problem from buying CA from hk is that the shipping costs more then its actual price. I am favourite of hk, ordered by hk 450 v2 today. What about threadlock? what should i use for that which is available in india

On a different thread, would you please detail the contents of what all you purchased in the HK 450 V2? I mean did you just buy the V2 kit or did you also get the motor, esc, servo etc? The reason why I am asking is because I plan to buy the same, soon. Thanks. Sorry, I really have no idea about Thread Lockers in India, I've just ordered a Medium Strength bottle from HK today.

Btw, if you just ordered the V2 kit today, you should have also bought the Foam safe CA and Thread locker. It would have come in the same package and your postage would have been saved. Contact them right away, I'm sure they will amend your order.

can we use Fevitite on coro?

Out of Topics -> Thats a great idea to order CA & threadlock along with my 450 v2 order. but i ordered a fully alloy version it came around 1 kg. only 2g left i couldn't fit any CA or threadlock into it :). Will order that along with my electronics once i recieve this pack(shipped today :)).

can i use the Eproxy itself to lock the threads from getting lose?
Does the thread lock has any advantage over Eproxy?
Any other alternative for thread lock?

Big difference - epoxy - adhesive and thread lock is just to ensure that nuts and bolts don't come loose with use.

Sure, with epoxy, that's the last time you would have screwed your nuts and bolts. Pls. don't use epoxy in place of thread lock ;-))

Generally...

Metal screw going into a metal socket/nut => use blue (semi-permanent) loctite.
Metal screw going into plastic socket => Nothing needed the first few times, but do not over tighten and cause the plastic to strip causing the screw to turn freely.  After the first few times one opens and fixes it, use a tiny bit of CA, as one can expect the plastic socket/hole to have expanded by now.
