Title: 3 channel (ETR) Plane and APM 2.8 Post by: manu on June 20, 2023, 03:39:58 PM Hello everyone,
I built a 3 channel rc plane and recently I put an APM 2.8 on it. Has anyone built a rudder only rc plane with APM. I did enable the rudder_only param as well as kff_rudder_mx and also rcmap_yaw to channel 1, etc but I am not able to control the rudder in FBWA mode. The rudder doesnt move along with stick inputs. \ After that I did a test on omnibus f4 pro. Flashed arduplane on it. Enabled rudder_only and all the associated parameters. This board allows us to select the servo output unlike apm. I selected the output on the pin to which the servo is connected as both aileron and rudder one after the other and I was able to notice that the servo moves along with the stick input in both FBWA and manual mode. my doubt with regards to APM is, why am I not getting rudder control in fbwa mode. with regards to Omnibus is, which output should I select (aileron or rudder) for the pin to which the rudder servo is connected nb: the plane flies well in the nomal (without rudder_only enabled) setup when the rudder servo is connected to the rudder(yaw) output pin Eager to hear from you all. thank you Title: Re: 3 channel (ETR) Plane and APM 2.8 Post by: manu on July 03, 2023, 09:12:46 PM Hi everyone, as I couldn't explore much on autopilot controlled fixed wing flight on this 3 channel rc plane, we built a four channel plane.
AUW 800 gms approx Wing span 1400mm root chord 240mm tip chord 150mm Cubic wing loading 5.6 Motor= generic 2212 1000kv prop= gemfan 10*5 battery= 3s (mah yet to be decided) emax servos *4 Autopilot = Omnibus f4 running arduplane front fuselage is acrylic 3mm , rear is cf tube 14mm OD More updates to come. Title: Arduplane on omnibus F4 on a self designed plane Post by: manu on July 05, 2023, 07:41:22 PM Posting some pictures. Maiden done today. Flew well in heavy winds. AUW is aroud 930gms (more than expected). Overall a good plane. Gps&compass, telemetry have to be connected. No provision for normal serial or CAN or I2C airspeed on the board , SPI ones are so costly.
Flew it in manual mode today. Motor and prop suggested by Iyer Sir but I used a 10*5 instead of 9. Title: Re: 3 channel (ETR) Plane and APM 2.8 Post by: manu on July 05, 2023, 08:52:46 PM Maiden video

Title: Re: 3 channel (ETR) Plane and APM 2.8 Post by: manu on July 28, 2023, 06:00:30 PM In case someone wants to cut this fuselage on acrylic, please use the attached dxf. It is specifically for 2mm acrylic sheet. Saved some weight by using 2mm sheets instead of 3mm.
