Bhavesh Congrats,.....Nice build and fly

Can you please share how you build Wind by Depron and are wings are airfoil or flat ??

Other specification, and Which motor ??

I am sorry the wing is my secret.
And i have an aerofoil its a flat bottomed aerofoil.

Oh!....hhhmmm

I guess....
You have glued 2 or 3 layers of Depron & inserted CF rods between wings
after glue dry you gave shape by using filer ? or may be hot wire cutter if you are too good in that,,,,

or build strong I can think to use following

Give a fevicol cote on wings
Tape it with normal or Fiber tape.
Use CF Rods
Use Base of Balsa wood......what else  :banghead:

If i use 3 to 4 layers of depron i am going to make the wing very heavy it ll cross 350gms but my weighs around 115gms only

For all we know, it could be the next big patent! :)  :P ;) ;D

:iagree:  BS Airfoil, Bye bye KF's!! No offence meant but I feel that knowledge should be shared as much as possible. Many others will agree with me. There are so many modelling geniuses out here in the forum and they don't mind sharing their ideas. Take Roopesh sir, as an example, he knows almost every trick possible in the book and he is so happy to share it across to everyone else.

I am sorry the wing is my secret.

I think your REAL secret is out now... that you NOT really a nice person  :P

Just kidding... sort of... or was I... hmmm.   Is it my business... hmmm... confused...  let me get back to work... :)

i too agree with rohithguptha, theres nothing as secret in this field....... and roopesh krishna is a good example in this forum just like other senior members....

if u roam through this forum , u will understand, how people share there ideas....  bst of luck

Congrats Bhaveshsangani! Nice Build

no big secret i guess,

Depron sheet has been scored and taped to install the required curve, leading edge is beveled and a carbon rod is placed on to give it a radius, max thickness and camber is placed around 30-35% of MAC using a depron sheets stacked on each other, trailing edge held together by hot glue and strips of fiber tape.

And the wing is made up of depron.
I have used two layers of depron . I have curved the top layer of the wing (leading edge side) just to give the bulge and i have added a few depron sections inside to just give the structural stability . Thats it .

Good looking model there Bhavesh. Well done! :salute:

Btw, It takes a lot of 'special' guts to say "No, I don't want to help you" on this forum. Educative for all of us to know that at least someone has that kind of guts here.

However, as you can see, knowledge is for sharing and will be shared by someone or the other. We can't stop the process.

Jatayu - Good sleuth..............Well done!

IMHO, it is not normal for Anwar Sahab to comment the way he did. I feel sorry that such a mild mannered gentleman was compelled to react in this manner. Pity.

It ok Mr. VC . Whatever Mr Anwar said i didnt even mind.
Its only that my team and  i worked alot to get a successful wing design, which is also very robust in construction .
We have also made a small wind tunnel and performed our own wind tunnel tests and smoke test. So i know how much hard work we have put in. Thats y i was a little reluctant in giving out the thing.  :) :) :) :)
And keeping secret doesn't make a person bad Mr. Anwar

Dear Bhavesh,

You have put across nice effort to build a good model and another congrats on your wind tunnel.

As a team i have worked on may complex aircraft designs and due to agreements and complexity of the project i cant spill out more details.

The sole intention here is to guide new comer to this hobby and spreading the knowledge ,such that they wont commit  similar mistakes as what we did, you have done a great job if you had posted the build log may be one or two would have followed your technique to build better models!

Any idea of publishing details about your wind tunnel and smoke system design ?  ;D ;D ;D

Bhavesh - I thought you were going commercial with this, and I expected to see an announcement about it soon :)  My wording was only meant to make you spill the beans on that commercial aspect sooner.  Hobbyists typically never keep such things secret.

Didn't expect it to be the simple/widely used design it is (in theory, possibly not that simple when it comes to actual build/implementation).

For the fun of it, there is a big difference between "bad" and "not nice" ;)  For the record, a hobbyist not divulging such information is really "not nice"... that is a firm statement.

its the regular wind tunnel thing . The only difference is that its hand made  :)

Title: Re: 4 feet wide Big RC plane (Scratch Built)
Post by: bhaveshsangani on March 27, 2012, 10:20:00 PM
Mr Anwar : whatever ...i have started from zero level and today i have around 12 hand made planes all flying successfully . I have been working on this thing for the past one year. Also have seen so many losses , infact have lost one plane also while flying (due to bad wind conditions) so i know the value of it . Never mind i am not here to argue with anyone.
Agreed that its a learning platform. So one should help the other.
And there is very popular saying that goes " Each man for himself" . Which the world always follows.
I dont mean to keep a secret but wen u really work hard on something , u really dont wanna spell it out in public .
Anyways i didnt knew that the method which i am using already exists .
I ll take care in future. :-)

No ill-will my friend :)

Everyone starts from zero... many have more than 1 plane lost to trial and error.

I guess you got the negative reaction because what  people are used to on this forum is for others to come in and say "hey guys, I am going to try this...  what do you all think ?" and post lots of detail about what they are trying to build.  You went in the other direction !

Anyways, I (and others) hope to see many more experimentations from you.  There will always be a lot of people to cheer you on your achievements !

Nice plane, very stable.. I have a KF2 airfoil depron wing which is 3 feet span. Its weight is 125grms, so its a remarkable job to keep your wing at 115grms. so do you have spar running full 4 feet span? is it a CF rod?

Koushik

Post by: PankajC on March 28, 2012, 11:09:17 AM
Lets look at this way- wing 115gms, the all up weight is 1.3kg. I would think that this would put quite a stress on the wings.

Anyway, unlike your method, I do share the details of my build regularly (as do most of the other builders) - for example check out my build http://www.rcindia.org/electric-planes/scratch-build-powered-glider/msg83597/#msg83597
The all up weight is 665gm at 50" wing span. Wing construction is detailed as well. No big secret.

BTW, this is flown regularly and has survived quite a few hard touchdowns.....

Pankaj

Yes Mr. Koushik i have used a span but not full length . Its like 75%of the wing span.
I used a glass beat (Commercial name, used for glass work ) its a 1cm*1cm*90cm wooden beat, quite light and very strong.

Good build Mr. PankajC . The reason why my plane is so heavy is that i have used coro sheets 5mm thickness and i had a motor  which had a thrust of 1.7kgs which i wanted to use so made a heavy plane. :-)
