Title: A quick build without any plan Post by: johnywalker8pm on February 21, 2014, 12:31:03 AM After my first flying session with Mr. Moorthy and V2 eagle, build it without any plan with a foam sheet. still wondering what glue to use in this material.
Any suggestion ?? :headscratch: few build pic attached, with the cutting tool set up. ;D Title: Re: A quick build without any plan Post by: johnywalker8pm on February 21, 2014, 12:32:13 AM the material used and the cutting tool setup.
Title: Re: A quick build without any plan Post by: v2 eagle on February 21, 2014, 05:06:53 PM Epoxy. commonly known as araldite.
Takes time to stick but dont attack this foam. Ashok.P Title: Re: A quick build without any plan Post by: johnywalker8pm on February 21, 2014, 05:20:51 PM  @v2 eagle

Title: Re: A quick build without any plan Post by: sandeepm on February 21, 2014, 05:44:57 PM Use hot glue or 5 min epoxy....
well, either the vertical stab is slightly big or the wing is small in length. Title: Re: Post by: docnayeem on February 21, 2014, 06:01:24 PM @jonnywalker what foam are you using is it EPE ?

Even i don't know what exactly it called.. :giggle: Title: Re: A quick build without any plan Post by: rastsaurabh on February 21, 2014, 06:13:38 PM use rubber based glue... you will get solid joints...
First clean surface with Petrol ( which has no oil mixed) Title: Re: A quick build without any plan Post by: utkarshg13 on February 21, 2014, 06:47:53 PM I agree with sandeepm sir.
Also, though the model is built neatly, still, does this material has sufficient strength to survive in air. Since, what i could make out from the pics, this is the one used in packing of TV, refrigerators... Title: Re: A quick build without any plan Post by: manojswizera on February 21, 2014, 07:09:44 PM I also don't no the name of this form, may be EPS ( correct if i am wrong ).
But i have tried this, This has to be strengthen with Spar, and covered with Polythene or any smooth surface. The Bare surface will restrict airflow, and stop your plane moving forward. give it a try. Title: Re: A quick build without any plan Post by: johnywalker8pm on February 21, 2014, 08:26:16 PM @ manojswizera ..
even i think so.. need to cover the surface for smooth air flow.. Title: Re: A quick build without any plan Post by: VC on February 21, 2014, 08:30:57 PM Expanded polyethylene or EPE foam, I think.

yes.. the wing span is 8" smaller than the actual.. i checked it in a pdf given by Mr v2 eagle.. now i made a new wing with correct ratio.. i will post pics once i fit all the electronics. So we have two planes this Sunday. Ashok.P Title: Re: Post by: docnayeem on February 22, 2014, 11:40:10 AM If it is EPE then its has excellent fracture resistance its resilient but very bad thermal and scratch resistance u need to coat it with something
