This is my another entry for sweepstakes.

No plans as of now but will complete this well before pitts as this is very promising and easy build.
parts are on the way, the first build will start by this Sat.

the plane is a simple 3 channel glider with polyhedral wing for stability, plus the winglets are hinged and controlled by servo creating a braking effect like a paraglider thus creating a partial roll effect like a aileron.

I have no idea how feasible it is but it could just fly as the plans will follow closely my previously built glider and the power system will remain the same except it will be a pusher.

Pics could describe the best, will post build log with newspaper proof once its started.

Please wish me a best of luck.

Interesting project Ashok. Would love to see it progress from a thought to a flying model.

All the best!

wing completed, fuse almost done, remaining works: fuse sanding, tail, motor mount, landing gear, electronics and covering. This will take roughly 3days. Voila. Have a close look at the wing, the tips bend with servos to lose lift and should create a roll effect. Now awaiting servos to check the reality.          ashok

Ashok..

A small tip from a newbie about wing..  Smiley

As i can see many wrinkle (which can can be removed with sanding) on the wings in image !!

Can be avoided .. just make sure that the hot wire moves smoothly without any hurdles like at same speed from start to end..

Sorry i could not make it yesterday as we discussed about the wing cutting  Bang Head

Bro for a glider your fuse has too much drag try on shedding some weight n getting the nose a bit aerodynamic ...cause that big rectangle surface upfront aka motor mount will create a lot of drag  Roll Eyes

Thanks for your comments shannon,
this model closely follows my 3 channel glider here,
http://www.rcindia.org/electric-planes/scratch-built-3-channel-glider/

and this has enough power to do a hover and can fly against winds amazingly with this shape, also its going to take a 8x4 prop so it wont hurt the performance anyways.
for weight its just 380gms AUW and the motor has already handled 600gms plane with no airfoil, so it shouldn't be a problem at all.

the actual drag comes from the covering which is not that impressive and can hamper the performance, any ideas on that are greatly helpful for my pitts. it shrinks no matter how much i was careful.

Saw your construction...... not sire how well it is taken ......
1.   The wing tips being atriculated may have the following effects on the wing itself....
   (a)    Yes they will act as ailerons and work well... though small movements may be enough
   (b)    Any abrupt movement may result into excessive lift loss on the up aileron wing.... may cause undue wing drop which may not be easy to control and result into excessive loss of lift...
   (c)    Cutting the wing this way may cause loss of structural rigidity..... the articulated joint would probably not be in a condition to provide the required rigidity to the wing.... This can cause undue flexure or even a collapse of the wing lengthwise...... while doing higher bank turns...... This could be a serious aerodynamic issue.

2.    You would do well by rounding off all the edges and smoothening them before you attempt your flying as it may cause undue skin friction drag..... i.e. reduce the aerodynamic performance of the model.

3.    Your tail stabilisers are far too thick to have just rounded edges.... you would do well by providing a flat camber to the hrizontal stabiliser (Clark Y aerofoil) and a symetrical aerofoil to the vertical stabiliser.  This will greatly reduce the form drag and assist in better performance.

4.   Lastly... the model may fly anyway.... but its performance may not be what it should be or what yo would desire.

5.   You may look at my earlier posts to see how to paper cover the thermocol to give it smooth finish.  It also helps profide good rigidity to the thermocol.... maybe that can help you a bit.

thanjks a lot for your comments shobit sir. With your advice im planning to use it to correct the flight and not as complete aileron, also its useless for inverted flight or anything beyond 45degree. Some more pics...

wings fold nice  Tongue may be u plan on making an aircraft carrier too Tongue post a vid of this thing flying and yes ur wing tips should have very less travel or ur plane will stall n go into a death spiral ....i think 5 degree should be ok or may be a little less
