Hi,
I have tried to make coro cub from SPADTOTHEBOON site but with lower scale.
I have just calculated with 3 mm coro (As I have no 2mm Coro.) and taken the measurements in cm insted of inch.
But the problems come when it comes to wing design. Using 2 layer 3mm coro will make it too much heavy.
So, I have no alternative to use with 1 layer coro. The wing is 39+39=78cm long. So, a flat wing it may be with bamboo reinforcement on Top with yellow poly tape coveragethat may serve like Extra 300 of Rohit.

But I want to make something NEW. Then just used rib idea in Balsa models.
Just make rounded as shown in cubs by cutting flutes and then sanded and joined with CA.

But realised that some guide is necessary to make similar curvature (Aerofoil) in both side and so make coro guide to hold. And then boded with CA.

But when checked the guides makes the reinforcement and better than my Ice-cream stick, I left them and makes the joints more stronger with some more CA with wing.

And the result gives me brilliant firm wing made with single coro.

I ask you experts is anybody see this type wing earlier ?

But looks ugly.

It can be used with biplane and triplane to make wing to wing connecters as well as reinforcements and single coro wing, but here I have to test flight first and then will decide about them (trim or remove or kept). I may change it to wing mount engines (dummy).

Thanks

Hello Kalyan Sir,
please provide us with a detailed step by step toutorial on how you made this wing.
I am building a Cessna 182 and facing the same problem as you, no 3mm coro, so I think I can try my hand on this
and I appreciate the efforts you put in their Hats Off

High spirits we have: gravity we flout.

my favourite coro wing design is the traditional cord wise flutes folded over the spar, the only problem is the leading edge comes out too sharp (edgy) . I am trying to find a way to make the LE to be more of a curve rather than a corner.. any ideas??

hi,

i tried a simillar wing but it was cut in center and joined with hanger wire in a V shape.

Mine never flew well as the wing got bend due to the rigs were in different shapes due to poor cutting......

So i tried another model Mr MOSS but that also suffered vibrations and i stopped thinking about CORO single sheet wings.

No,
you have to take Sharp edged knife (1/2 inch or 1 inch width disposable type) and have to cut the flute slowly like 1"/1Sec speed. The edge of the blade should be kept at 45O corner. The other flute corner will give you support and the edge of the blade should not touch the edge taking support of the flute so that the blade would not enter penetrating the corner and enter into other flute.

If you take support of the corner, for the knife blade and touch the face with flute, and holding the blade with thumb and index finger, and middle finger will give support so that the blade distance would be maintained and the blade would not cut the other side.

And, sand the surface (Actually scratch with 120 preferably for surface preparation) before cutting the flute if you are thinking to join with CA. As later sanding may fold the thin support(Cut out side) and sanding will not so good And bonding too. For constant curvature, you have to rest the piece in ant constant slope and then have to apply CA.

Thanks
