peter ver-2 and is essentially for incorporating FPV, larger batt space and higher boom for incorporating longer prop for better thrust again for FPV, higher boom however will have undesirable pitch effect , just for non FPV flying ver - 1 it is .

Let us have some more discussion... exactly what "undesirable pitch effect" is expected, and how can it be "handled" ?

I have used an extreme example here, if you notice the conventional aeroplane the thrust drag couple is nose up
http://www.rcindia.org/rc-general-topics/basic-aerodynamics-for-rc-flying/?action=dlattach;attach=634633;image
BIXLER 2 VERSUS BIXLER 1

which means whenever you open throttle the nose will go up, that is good, it will climb out However in a podded engine like the bixler, easystar etc (See Image below) it is nose down couple, i.e whenever you open throttle nose will go down and at take off or toss since the forward speed is low elevator will not have enough authority to counter this ensuing nose down pitch, if the distance to the pod increases (Like they have done it in Bixler -II) this problem will only accentuate, but then for FPV you would have some experience by then so you can control this pitch down by controlling the power till you attain sufficient speed. That is in a nutshell

How do you overcome this

At toss, (a) Toss like a javelin without any side force (b) do not toss with full power, open just enough power so that the model tends to move in your hand and after toss slowly open power while controlling the pitch up with back elevator, else she will slam down onto the ground

I read that the stock motor on B2 is weak and may need replacement in case of some decent fpv load. Iam still deciding between B2 and East star 2. Nothing beats eloper!

Hi Rcpilotacro,

I've seen this video

Flies very stable ,does a pretty good role & inverted flight & with a flaps ON she comes in really slow.

Read few reviews about a weak motor so which alternate motor is to be used.

As per reviews I've been now reading props adapter is another problem i.e they are not balanced therefore creating a viabration ,any solution to this problem.

which prop do you suggest ?

I 've Turnigy 9x -do I need to buy a Turnigy Servo Signal Reverser

Would be using the Bixler2 for normal fun fly as I've the AXN FLOATER not so happy with roles or inverted flight, glides well but most of the time she not so stable .But in the near future I'm thinking of some small camera installed on it.Also pls can you explain me this "higher boom for incorporating longer prop (bigger prop size) for better thrust again for FPV, higher boom however will have undesirable pitch effect -Can  you explain this ?, just for non FPV flying ver - 1 it is .

I've the ESC 40A,Several 9 gms servoes,1800mAh 3s Lipoly nanotech  Battery ,y extension ,Motor can be ordered as upgrade.
Read on the HK FORUM that Bixler2 would come in kit shortly & would be much lower in prices may be $35 to $40

So what your advise

(a) i have explained undesirable pitch in rep #4
(b) If going to go with cam later then Bixler -II it is(why not easy star -II)
(c) No you wont need servo reverser for the flaps with Turnigy 9X it has flaps facility on a rotary knob
(d) stock motor is bad wait till the kit comes out and put your own motor, good motor are available locally go with the easy star - ii motor sold by RCdhamaka
(e) rest of the electronics you already have

all the best

you are welcome abhay, one other thing about podded engine, when you cut power in air for landing, there will be a pitch up initially, (Thereafter she will settle down in a glide angle), so cutting of power in air also needs to be done delibrately

Peter
Easy Star -II is a better plane than the Bixler -II no doubt on that, with a little extra money it is better to go in for easy star-ii.

Sirji, Flaps and a lil extra wingspan are the only thing thats keeping me away from EZ* 2. Are these so important? If not I will buy the EZ* 2. less headache of shipping damage customs etc.

absolutely! in fact to land a glider you need opposite aileron called the crow. flaps are not required at all on a glider (Except if you want to do some real low speeds). you are from banglore, RCD is at bangalore, i think you should go for  EZ-II so should Peter. Customs, Breakages etc all put together Bixler may not be an ideal choice

Ok! Thanks.  I can always use flaperons with differential ailerons if I need. Smiley

Hi

Checked RC DHAMAKA site & they are selling the Multiplex Easy Star II for 4760/-with out motor/esc/servoes ,will need to buy Motor .

Will I get spares support like wings /fuselage spares parts etc .The wing is small 1136mm - 45.44 " compared to 59" of Bixler. Is this correct

How about Sky surfer ,is that a better plane ?Mr Sai is offering to me a very decent prices with Motor ONLY -Its has a 54" wing span & its made from EPO,This should be available next week.

Bixler is working to almost $100 i.e 5600 /-all inclusive-Motor/esc/4 servos.

Still  undecided as Im looking for a big wing span & very slow landing, fly inverted-roles,loops.

will have to wait for Bixler Kit price

regards
