HI ALL

this is my very first RC plane build

i am trying to copy the PRECISION AEROBATICS ELECTRIC SHOCK
i chose this plane because it is smaller in size and can be flown in very small area and it is 3d

Materials -

1) i am using wood strips ( used in co-boards for decoration ) for the entire plane build.
because this is lighter and also cheaper.
2) glue- using super glue and fevicoal

FOR POWER SYSTEM

i have no idea about what electronic i should use but already have

EMAX cf 2822 1200kv motor
4 pic  of  HXT 900 9g servos
Turnigy 1000mAh 3S 20C Lipo Pack

i will post pics by this evening

thanks!

Learning to Fly

While we try to be ambitious in our projects, we should be practical in our approach. My recommendation for a newbie would be as follows
1) Go for a pusher rather than a tractor
2) Go for a high winger rather than a low one
3) Go for a slow flyer with a a low wing loading
4) Keep the weight low
5) Try with 3 channels first - throttle, elevator and rudder.

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

While acknowledging the above two posts as the right thing to do, if you have already starting building the 3D model you mentioned, be sure to limit the throws either physically, or preferably using the DR/EXPO combination on the transmitter. There is really no reason why you can't fly a 3D plane, if you tame it down *AND* you are VERY (I mean VERY VERY) comfortable flying on a sim.  The caveat would be to have a more experienced flier do the initial trimming, if that option is available to you.

Keep the weight close to 500gms, for that motor.

Practice, and only Practice will make you perfect

Leading edge of the wing is too blunt, might behave unpredictably at high alpha

Banboy I don't know about your flying experience or the aerodynamics of the model,
however, that wood strip that you are using is an amazing product! I have used the same stuff and it is amazing! It almost has a balsa like feel to it.

Your model is looking good.

All the best!

hi all

i just measured the plane weight  and  i now have a BIG QUESTION (WILL IT FLY)

JUST the plane weight is 375g ( without any electronic )

The total weigh i.e wood plane + 4*9g servo + motor + Esc = 470g

after adding battery and receiver i guess it will be about 570 to 600g

now my question is that the motor i chose, will it be able to pick this weight

what should be the prop size for this plane  Huh?

i tried  heard to keep it within 500g but couldn't

pls suggest

thanks!

Gr8 build, for a 3D atleast 1.7 times the weight should be your pull, for a decent tailslide recovery
