Title: BUILD THREAD - VERY FIRST RC PLANE Post by: arjun2592 on May 12, 2011, 12:07:14 PM HI ALL
this is my very first RC plane build i am trying to copy the PRECISION AEROBATICS ELECTRIC SHOCK i chose this plane because it is smaller in size and can be flown in very small area and it is 3d Materials - 1) i am using wood strips ( used in co-boards for decoration ) for the entire plane build. because this is lighter and also cheaper. 2) glue- using super glue and fevicoal FOR POWER SYSTEM i have no idea about what electronic i should use but already have EMAX cf 2822 1200kv motor 4 pic of HXT 900 9g servos Turnigy 1000mAh 3S 20C Lipo Pack i will post pics by this evening thanks! 1) Go for a pusher rather than a tractor 2) Go for a high winger rather than a low one 3) Go for a slow flyer with a a low wing loading 4) Keep the weight low 5) Try with 3 channels first - throttle, elevator and rudder. pankaj Title: Re: BUILD THREAD - VERY FIRST RC PLANE Post by: anwar on May 12, 2011, 12:59:17 PM While acknowledging the above two posts as the right thing to do, if you have already starting building the 3D model you mentioned, be sure to limit the throws either physically, or preferably using the DR/EXPO combination on the transmitter. There is really no reason why you can't fly a 3D plane, if you tame it down *AND* you are VERY (I mean VERY VERY) comfortable flying on a sim. The caveat would be to have a more experienced flier do the initial trimming, if that option is available to you.
Keep the weight close to 500gms, for that motor. Title: Re: BUILD THREAD - VERY FIRST RC PLANE Post by: arjun2592 on May 13, 2011, 09:01:25 PM hallow
couldn't post picks yesterday hope to do it by today or surely tomorrow yes i understand being a beginner i should go for high wing trainer BUT as i already started build and it is almost complete and also trying heard to keep it within 500g so i don't wanna drop the plan. here are some picks of the real precision aerobatics electric shock i will post the copy one (the one i am building) by tomorrow surely. the battery i chose is 3s 11.1v which ESC should be used with cf 2822 motor ( 25Amp OR 18Amp ) ??? Lipo battery is 3s thanks! Title: Re: BUILD THREAD - VERY FIRST RC PLANE Post by: rajathv8 on May 13, 2011, 09:09:45 PM You will need 25A ESC for this.
This may help whle using this motor: http://www.rcindia.org/electric-planes/my-new-coro-trainer-avispad/msg62249/#new Title: Re: BUILD THREAD - VERY FIRST RC PLANE Post by: arjun2592 on May 13, 2011, 11:15:26 PM the size of the wingspan is 30 inch total length is 31 inch weight = about 400g including 4 * 9g servos + motor what should be the prop size for the motor ?? here are the pics Title: Re: BUILD THREAD - VERY FIRST RC PLANE Post by: rcpilotacro on May 14, 2011, 10:40:42 PM Leading edge of the wing is too blunt, might behave unpredictably at high alpha

Title: Re: BUILD THREAD - VERY FIRST RC PLANE Post by: arjun2592 on May 14, 2011, 10:58:12 PM i tried as far i can copy the real one right side wing is yet to be covered and As it was my first wood construction rc plane so i made few mistakes hope that will not efect the performance ! wingspan is 30 inc which prop should be used ?? the real PA ELECTRIC SHOCK uses 10*3.7 prop here are few more pics if i am making any mistake pls guide me through thanks! Title: Re: BUILD THREAD - VERY FIRST RC PLANE Post by: VC on May 15, 2011, 12:12:30 AM Banboy I don't know about your flying experience or the aerodynamics of the model,
however, that wood strip that you are using is an amazing product! I have used the same stuff and it is amazing! It almost has a balsa like feel to it. Your model is looking good. All the best! Title: Re: BUILD THREAD - VERY FIRST RC PLANE Post by: arjun2592 on May 17, 2011, 03:52:11 PM hi all
i just measured the plane weight and i now have a BIG QUESTION (WILL IT FLY) JUST the plane weight is 375g ( without any electronic ) The total weigh i.e wood plane + 4*9g servo + motor + Esc = 470g after adding battery and receiver i guess it will be about 570 to 600g now my question is that the motor i chose, will it be able to pick this weight what should be the prop size for this plane ??? i tried heard to keep it within 500g but couldn't pls suggest thanks! Title: Re: BUILD THREAD - VERY FIRST RC PLANE Post by: rcpilotacro on May 17, 2011, 05:36:53 PM Gr8 build, for a 3D atleast 1.7 times the weight should be your pull, for a decent tailslide recovery
Title: Re: BUILD THREAD - VERY FIRST RC PLANE Post by: dards on August 31, 2011, 08:03:13 AM PA is undoubtedly the one of the best electric plane manufacturer. extremey light weight, rugged and fly really well.
